Man I appreciate your wisdom with these jeeps. I'm in the middle of a engine swap. Putting a new motor in 2001 grand Cherokee. You have helped me a few times now.

Can you make a video of installing the cam pos sensor (distributor) I'm not sure of a few things

I have always soaked the lifters in oil for a day before installing them . Then I will coat the lifter bore with assembly lube and install them . I've been doing it that way for years and never had any problems . I think you will be ok with the way you did it . Take care Dale and looking forward to your next video .

@@JeepSolid dip them in oil as youre dropping them in... no need to overthink it.. im sure they be fine even if they went in dry... that entire engine is filled with pressurized oil within a few revolutions of that cam

I’ve always just primed lifters with a syringe and assembly lube mainly on Harleys but we all know the saying “bigger glob better the job”. God bless you fellas and keep the craft alive.

That felpro oil pan gasket actually comes with 4 little plastic studs so you can snap the gasket and oil pan onto place from underneath then remove them after you got some bolts in. So theres no need to go through all the headache of custom making your own stud with a flathead in it.

Engine paint looks good, don't sweat it bud. After seeing it, I'm thinking about using that to coat my transfer Case and transmission in the same paint you used.

At 4:57 the tip to make oil pan gasket guide pins comes directly from the Jeep Factory Service Manual. Very handy! Regarding the block color: drive it off road once and the silver will *become* gray in about half an hour. HAHAHA!!!
@JeepSolid
@JeepSolid 5 жыл бұрын
Haha true. The color wasn't what I was shooting for, but not worried about it.

You only need the zinc break in lube on the bottom of the lifters and on the cam lobes. And you should absolutely positively most definitely soak the lifters in oil.. For a minimum of one hour.

I cleaned my lifters and the plunger inside moves freely. Is that normal or is there a spring inside that keeps it tight. Should I put new lifters on an old cam? Thanks!

Can i remove the lifters by my tj 2.5 l with a magnetic lifter or do i need a special tool to do this? Jojo from Germany.👋 You make great videos👍👍
@JeepSolid

Magnet can pull them, although sometimes they are stuck and have to be pushed out from the bottom side.
