You seem to put out videos just in time for my XJ project lol. I just finished a lift axle rebuild new starter alternator water pump and it threw a rod or something while test running because it's a typical jeep lol.

I must have gotten lucky. I pulled my harmonic balancer the other day with my... steering wheel puller lol But my truck has ZERO rust which is a Unicorn for a 2001. I'm also too weird with keeping things super clean for me to do a inframe rebuild. All that grease over everything would have given me a embolism.

@@cherokeeronnie Amen Brother, Amen.. I wouldn't even blink an eye about getting grease on any crap under the hood - and if anyone is actually worried about that and would still enjoy saving a couple/few grand if their hard-earned money then it is soo super easy to just spray some engine degreaser after the job is done and hose it off, Rinse scrub and repeat if necessary...

I didn't watch it all the way through but with piston damage like that the block is probably scored beyond repair unless you want to bore the engine to 258.
@joefoster259
@joefoster259 9 ай бұрын
you trusted the rings didn't need to be filed? (gapped) Even with knowing the bore size, etc. I figure a fella would double check. Did you check the clearances off camera before installing the rings? How has it gone thus far?

I'm way too stickler for that. I'd be stressing about cam bearings. Cam wear etc

how’s it running after the inframe rebuild? Everyone cries that you shouldn’t do it xyz, and if it’s still running how many miles have you put on it?

I just tore mine apart to replace one piston and decided to do all 6 in frame like you are. Would you recommend I also do the crank bearings? Engine has 126K on it. Accidentally ran it low on oil too hard and thats when the slapping developed.

@@cherokeeronnie I just finished my rebuild this past weekend and she is running like a champ! You're videos inspired me to get a Cherokee in the first place and I got lucky with a rust free 99 XJ with 124k miles for $2,500 a couple years back. It's hot as balls out here in AZ but at least our vehicles don't rust. keep up the good work!

Ugh. 203k on my 91 Briarwood, and it’s getting torn down too… nothings “broken” but my suspicions as to why it keeps overheating may soon be realized. I have long suspected stop-leak.
