i just did this on my 99. set the jeep on the ground and have someone turn the wheel and the track bar fits right in. got that tip off of DeXJs channel.

That xj project is looking good Dan. 👍 On my ZJ I used some 3/16" Steel plate and reinforced my trac ber bracket on the axle, But Barnes 4x4 does sell a nice replacement one for a fair price. The Rough Country trac bars are ok , but personally I prefer the ones from Rusty's Off Road, they cost a bit more than Rough Country, but absolutely worth it.
@ProjectDanHАй бұрын
That's good to know! How does the track bar adjust?

@@ProjectDanH. I uses a tie rod with a locknut It is actually the same size and thread of tie rod that is used on the drag link at the steering box end that connects to the pitman arm.

Hey Dan for removing the front shocks if they are garbage anyway don't bother with the upper nut. Just unbolt the bottom and pull the shock bottom towards you, the top will snap right off.

Yea if you plan to weld a flat washer make sure you a none galvanized washer the fumes can send you to the hospital. A friend of mind did that and spent a week in the hospital.

Great series. That's gonna be a nice little rig. You gonna replace the control arms and bushings? They look pretty beat. I just did mine, what a difference. I removed the entire axel for the top bushings. Made the Job 100x easier and it was only about an hour to get the axel out. Too old to try and drill out/press in those on my back.
@ProjectDanHАй бұрын
Thanks man! I think im gonna get some new extended control arms for it in the near future. Great Input!

The top of the shock post as a pre cut spot for a wrench by grinding a spot in the shock post is a terrible idea. That shock will be leaking in no time.
@ProjectDanHАй бұрын
I don't care if the old shock leaks .. just a trick to get the OEM ones off... Hope you don't think I'd do that to a new shock. 🙏
