The seal on the splined boss that goes into the gear box fails, this allows water into the splined shaft and ruat it frozen. You can take the motor out, take the gear box apart and then press the shaft (out) off the pinion arm and then out completely, once out of the shaft clean up the bore and the shaft so they're both smooth, remove the failed o-ring with a pick, install new o-ring, grease everything and reassemble. Most times "motor failure" is a result of the shaft seizing up and can be fixed quickly and cheaply and the OEM original part is far better than the Chinese knock offs
