Finally got my tire on the spare rim with the rest of the pieces of the tire carrier in place. Wanted to go through each of the brackets, the layout, bumpers, bump stop, etc. Apologies for the choppy editing - learning as I go.

Great video, thanks for sharing. I was wondering about the orientation of all the spare tire carrier pieces, and fastener dimensions, since I neglected to take enough photos during disassembly. I’m wrapping up a 1981 CJ7 restoration. Nice work!

That's great, looking forward to wrapping mine up at some point. Still a lot to do but one step at a time.

this is an awesome explanation of how this carrier works and bolts together...we are in the process of building something similar for our CJ3b to get the spare tire off the passengers side quarter panel and to the rear...could you tell me what size square tubing is used?...we have some 1-1/4 and hope that will be large enough.

I got a crack on the right bottom side of the tire carrier, below the stop light, holding a regular tire. I'm not the only one with this problem, had to remove the carrier and keep the spare tire inside. I am looking for ways to have a tire carrier that doesn't crack the body.

Are you powder coating those small parts yourself ?

Yes, I got a sandblasting setup last year and have been making my way around the jeep. I did a video on smoker conversion to an oven. Worked great and been really happy with it. Not big enough for the carrier itself. Had to send that out.
