Hi. I’m trying to do the same setup. I think the strut hats don’t come with the upper isolators anymore. Any recommendations? I‘m also not looking to do a lot of off-roading but I have a 2008 overland commander and I want to raise the suspension to throw on some JL wrangler wheels (275/55/20). I know I’ll use wheel spacers. Do you think I can just get away with the RC spacer lift or do your setup lift with the BS5100s shocks? FYI this setup in your video is over $1200 now lol
@ExtremeDailyDrivers7 күн бұрын
Do not cheap out on your suspension or you will regret it. It doesn't matter if it's a Jeep or Honda or BMW. It's too important. And I wouldn't use wheel spacers. Do it right and do it once.
@platinum79907 күн бұрын
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers thanks - i think with the JL wheels i need to use spacers because they’re from a 2024 Wrangler. I maybe wrong but hubcentric spacers are probably needed to clear the brakes on commanders with those wheels. I think the tire size of those new wheels are equivalent to 32” so that should clear with your lift setup?
@ExtremeDailyDrivers7 күн бұрын
@platinum7990 You will need spacers with the Wrangler wheels and yes the tires will clear but you will still need to do the pinch weld mod.

Fun bit of info, KONI is from the Netherlands, and the Jeep Renegade (the one that's manufactured in Italy at least), has KONI shocks, ones that become more stiff in corners, and are more forgiving when offroading. We own a Renegade, apart from the Commander, and got about 120.000KM on the clock of the Rennie without a hassle. KONI all the way!

Nice! That's great feedback. Thank you. I love them so far. It's cool that they are adjustable, it's just a terrible process for the front struts, but could be useful if I ever decide to get a metal front bumper, which would increase the weight upfront. Thanks for watching!!

@@gosstg09 My lift plus a leveling kit will not work. The front will be 5+ inches and the rear will be 2+. Your drive train won't last long either thanks to the ridiculous angles you will create. There are really only three options to lift your Commander. 1. Spacer lift 2. OME lift (basically the same thing mine is except with different components) 3. Superlift (which is discontinued). I noticed on Jeep commander , stock suspension the rear end is an inch higher. It looks awkward like the front end is sagging. I like the leveling kit so you can adjust the height even using the rockers as level . It totally charges the stand of the Commander
@ExtremeDailyDrivers2 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, there is nothing more awkward than the front being higher than the rear, which basically every leveling kit for the Commander does. With that being said, I have plates that go on top of the front suspension that is supposed to raise the front end a half of an inch. I've had them for months and haven't installed them because I'm still on the fence of whether or not they are worth the hassle of installing if they raise the front higher than the rear. I'll do a video if I ever install them.

@ExtremeDailyDrivers Жыл бұрын
20 inch wheels, low profile tires, snorkel and winch don't all go together. I would lose the 20 inch wheels and low profile tires It's a bad idea. That's going to be a lot of rotating mass, which will hurt performance, MPG and probably give you all sorts of steering issues. Good luck and thanks for watching.
@franzjones179 Жыл бұрын
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers ⭐️ that makes sense, but 245-50/r20 tires are actually smaller than the 245-65/r17 tires already on the jeep...

37's aren't going to fit. Why would you want them anyway? They would weigh over a 100 pounds each wheel. You would lose so much power trying to move those things and you mpg would be about 1 HWY 0 CITY. Not to mention that you probably wouldn't be able to stop. Thanks for watching.

I did not like how my Commander's front end sat lower than the rear. I also did not like how my vehicle rode on rough poorly maintained pavement and washboard dirt and gravel roads. My shocks and struts were changed just a few years ago before I bought it, so I thought how can I make an improvement without major work or costing me an arm and a leg. I then thought about what racers do to smooth out the rides on their cars, so I decided to try adding spring rubbers along with a 1inch rubber block. Mr Gasket made a spring rubber the exact size I needed for my spring gap and I also added the rubber blocks (total cost $60). Now my front end height is within 3/8" of my back end and the best part is my ride on rough roads is like day and night compared to before. No more kidney jarring rides on the washboard roads to my favorite fishing spots. I was only wanting a leveling lift because my Commander is just 2wd and I needed to justify the cost to my wife so that I could continue to make modifications here and there to make my vehicle not look like every other Commander out there. I may add softer spring rubbers to the back springs but the ride is good now just doing the front.
