A piece of worn out T-shirt pressed between socket and nut or bolt head works great for retaining nuts or bolts so they don't fall out, especially SS non-magnetic fasteners. Thank for sharing, was going to come up from underneath 😊
@richarddeichler21722 жыл бұрын
For those that asked others, this took me 50 minutes. A couple notes: I used a Milwaukee m12 ratchet, although only on the airbox bracket and hose clamp, so it didn't save that much time. I used a decent sized inspection mirror and a flashlight to find everything and align the heat shield at the end. The lower 10mm heat shield bolt was missing, probably from when someone else replaced the harness to the sensor and left it out or lost it, so that saved a little time. Most importantly, I used magnetic sockets to make it easy to stay on the bolts, and start the bolts at the end.
@SomethingonSodom2 жыл бұрын
Everyone's saying magnets 🧲. Nice work.
@richarddeichler21722 жыл бұрын
@@SomethingonSodom Maybe that was only me, twice. Once when I watched before I started, and once more when I came back to let people know how long it takes. But I do love those sockets. For modern cars with no room to see, and too many things in the way to catch and hide a bolt when you drop it, magnets are the way to go.

I have a 2011 jeep compass. Today I drove all over the place, including the freeway. It was fine. As I was pulling out of a driveway, it smoothly/quietly shut off and wouldn't start up again. 20 minutes go by and it magically starts up. I drive out of the street, park it and turn it off. It won't start up again. I got a jump and it starts, but only drives less than 5 minutes and shuts off again. Especially after giving it much gas. We repeat these steps several times for over an hour, inching it closer and closer to my home. Lastly. We start it up. Let it run a while and drive it to my house very slowly. Barely giving it gas. It makes it all the way there and performs smoothly and normal. Another hour goes by. I test it out again in it's parking spot. It starts up, but it's revving. Put my foot on the gas. And it turns off on its own. HELP?! Is it the alternator? The battery? The filter ? We also put water inside the battery right before it made it all the way to our destination.

Engine was idling hard and stalling out occasionally and had a check-engine light. Code was the crank shaft sensor and first off want to give this video a thumbs up. Getting to the bolt to remove the heatshield was a pain in the fucking ass. I tried to take to get it off with socket wrench, but it wouldn't budge. I was able to squeeze an impact drill there in there and still couldn't get it off. As a matter of fact, I cracked a socket in the process. I applied some WD40 to the bolt and let it sit for a few minutes. Still had some trouble getting it off with the impact wrench but it eventually backed out. It took a solid hour just to get the bolt off and my daughters' makeup mirror came in clutch. I have long arms, so I was able to thread the bolts on and off with my hands once I got it loose. Process was rather straight forward after that.
