The currents can wash out deeper channels on the bottom than you'd expect and then you're suddenly in too deep.

Glad you turned it around brother. A foot of water moving like that can take a vehicle with it. Yeah we're glad that the Trail Wrecker isn't swimming to the Pacific, but it could always be replaced. You on the other hand, may be a little harder to do without. Keep up the good work guys!

I love that you made a solid attempt to cross it though! That’s one of the reasons I prefer having a full size truck. The mass keeps you on track but that current would test any vehicle I reckon.

@12:35 I believe the overlanders in Africa when they rode in Landrovers they had tandem winch or pull chains/rope setup. So if you started getting too deep or pushed by the current they could winch you back out. Visa versa if you made it to the other side and the guy/gal behind you lost traction - then you just tow them out.

If you don't have a snorkel try and carry some soft corrugated intake hose and I can clamp it on and strap it to the roof rack for emergency crossings! Easy to store and simple to use probably find other uses for it to

Note to river crossing .Filters that are washable and oiled will pass water to your motor and hydrolock it.A fiber type filter will stall your engine but hold back water from flooding your engine.Ask me how i know.
