Look great. With the added weight of the carrier and winch, how much did the front end drop down (from 21"). Are there any issues with the air bag safety system before and after the install? Thanks.
@GrandExploration10 ай бұрын
At the very end I talked about sag on the front end. It ended up being 3/4”. So I will need to add at least a 3/8” shim to bring it back to where it was. As far as airbag. I had the same questions. Because while taking off the original bumper. I didn’t remove any sensors. I guess I’m not sure how that system works.

Aye you did a fantastic job installing that winch. I'm trying to find a hidden winch for my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I haven't found one that really looks hidden for my '05 Jeep but I'm gon check out your people and see what they recommend. Your Jeep looks very dope. It was dope b4 tha winch but having it gives you a sense of security, knowing you can can yourself out of a jam if your alone or help out someone else who may need that type of assistance.

Thank you man. I really appreciate that. You should find Daniel Chaffee on Facebook. He’s the owner of 6 monkeys off-road and he can fabricate anything. He’s a cool guy

Looks good man! I will say the 6 Monkeys alpha FLG was way easier and the winch pulls from the frame since it all bolts to the recovery hook points. I'd say it's probably fine off the radiator subframe tho since so many other guys are running the Chief products stuff. Also you are a madman doing all that in this cold 😂
@GrandExploration10 ай бұрын
Yes! I’ve been talking with 6monkeys about this. And everyday is cold now I have no choice haha. I need a heated shop.

I had the same issue with the bolts lining up properly. Lots of sweating and swearing but I did eventually get it all together. Now I just need to fix the ACC. I'm hoping it's just a matter of bending the mounting bracket a little and re-attaching it. Just not sure which way to bend it so it will probably take a few attempts unless I get real lucky!

You are the 4th person now to say this. So this has to be an issue on their end.

I'm wondering how much actual load that mount will be able to take, since their "Rock Sliders" can't even be used with a floor jack without bending and deforming. For something that is significantly more expensive than their much more durable competitors, I wish you the best of luck, but please do keep an eye on that mount if you ever have to put any real load on the winch.

I’m right there with you. Their products have disappointed me. That is for sure and I will not buy another chief products again. When I first purchased this mount it actually cracked down one of the weld seams. Thankfully I have a good relationship with Daniel at 6monkeys and he told them to get it right or else he’s putting his equipment on. Sure enough the chief engineer personally sent me a winch mount with perfects seams and good reinforcement. It has worked perfect so far. But I can’t recommend anyone buy their winch mount under normal circumstances

I don’t know man. I installed my chief products hidden winch on my 2016 5.7 by myself with no issues……it was a little tedious but I didn’t have any problems. 🤷🏽♂️ *****I did install it when it was only a few weeks old. I bought the WK2 new.

I think the fitting issue is due to the added mount for the lower guard.. just my observation. Great video mate.

Thanks. The. Added mount? Well both pieces are suppose to work together that’s the way they were created. To complement each other.

If the steel for the bumper is anywhere as weak as the "high strength" steel for the weak rock sliders, I'll take a pass on that one. Chief is waay to expensive for how week they are.
@GrandExploration10 ай бұрын
I might just agree with you. Having installed it myself it allowed me to see areas of this setup that cause me concern.
@FearlessTrailhawk10 ай бұрын
@@GrandExploration Lets just say the two medium trails i did in Ouray in September were apparently harder than any trails Chief's engineers ever took their sliders on. Told me i should be 'gentle' with them and just said 'sorry you are disappointed'....in their $1,400 sliders....i have never seen sliders get so destroyed so quickly. My highway tires survived the trails better than the "rock sliders". Too many soft-roaders and overlanders that don't ever slide against rocks are way too enthusiastic about them...but they were just a huge waste of money for me. I'll be going with the RRO bumper and sliders as soon as the funds allow.

@@FearlessTrailhawk I bought a 2021 Wk2 Trailhawk here in Australia just recently. Haven’t taken it off road yet. I am looking for rock sliders and additional underbody protection as the first mods. I’ve read the ORA sliders need drilling into body for assembly and silicone caulking also. That is opposite to CP sliders which don’t need drilling. I haven’t read anywhere else where the CP slider is of poor quality.
@hikingphotog3 ай бұрын
@@RockGarden8888 Looks like Fearless actually just posted a video about the poor quality of the sliders (kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5nNn6ilg6lgeq8si=AQUay_l8EHD0zWju) I think its telling that Chief advise you don't use a floor jack on the sliders except in certain spots, probably cause they will bend and deform if you put the jack anywhere else... you know, because that's totally not the same as the practical use of a rock slider... Like Fearless is saying, I think most of the glowing reviews of the Chief sliders and other products, are from people that don't really use their rigs for even barely moderate offroading. Shame that Chief won't stand by their products and blame the user for their lack of durability.
