The Jeep CEO was right: EV’s are failing. And sales dropped.

True if you are American centric. The truth is EV sales are seriously increasing. America is trailing again because blind obstinacy

Jeep bankrupted in China and sales of EVs in China are growing 20% per year. Why? Because Chinese capitalism and competition created whole new category of cars: EREV. Which are PHEVs with long range. Western car brands are 5 years behind.
@derek9063Ай бұрын
They will more than likely be going out of business in a year. The ceo gave himself a 50 percent raise during massive layoffs and stop production on vehicles. Dealers are overflowing with cars that are priced out of the market. They are done.

I think honestly it’s beyond the model lineup. I think it’s fine as it is. It’s really the price point and entry points of the Jeep line. You have to make it worth buying a new car rather than a used wrangler. 28k basic model wrangler with a 4 cylinder. You’d be surprised. People don’t want a 700 car payment.

Jeeps are supposed to be blue-collar, low cost vehicles. You live with the crap reliability because parts are cheap and plentiful, and back just 20 years ago, they were still easy to fix on your own. Then Jeep decided it was two things it was not. A performance brand? Only someone who knows nothing about driving wants a 700 hp engine in a vehicle that has problems going safely over 80 MPH with a 4-cylinder under the hood, let alone long braking distances and rollover dangers. Jeep spent tons of money on this stupidity. A luxury brand? Well, here they got their wish. They wanted to be Land Rover, and they got it, overpriced, over equipped, and even worse reliability than before. I've owned fourJeep products 2005-2015. Two were complete lemons with various electronic faults (cam sensor, etc.) that left the vehicle stranded. One (GC) had a failed transmission at 95k miles, dealer said nothing was wrong, bring it back in 5k miles....). Only the Wrangler had no issues, but it was a lease, and I only had it for 30k miles.

I don’t understand why manufacturers don’t just follow Toyota’s lead and advice!!! HYBRIDS HYBRIDS HYBRIDS!!!

Yeah and American manufacturers only produce plug in type hybrids,, don't make no sense

Not really. In China most cars sold are EREVs, which is PHEV with battery for 150-200km. Almost like EV, just with petrol engine.
@drdoc7508Ай бұрын
With those prices yes, they'll go out of business

Jeep is not Tesla. I don't know what the CEO is doing. Does he want Jeep to be like what's going on with Chrysler and Dodge? Looks like it to me.
@GallAnonim-jx2czАй бұрын
I live in China and Jeep-like cars are selling amazing. The difference? Jeep is petrol car and cost 50k usd. Chinese brands are selling off-road long range PHEVs for 25k USD.

This appears to be a ridiculously positive assessment of the situation. Yes let us bring our Chrysler lineup to a whole slew of one vehicle & massively overprice our Jeep vehicles & crush the Dodge brand & pull out Ram from Dodge so that it is easier to eliminate Dodge. And then let us fix the problem of overpriced vehicles by belatedly reducing the prices. So with Jeep & Ram left they will do their best by developing these vehicles carefully at the Chrysler Tech Center, which as you know is not going anywhere and will never be sold!! (ha ha) Uh Oh! Looks like development of big Dodge Rams will be taking place uh where??, -since it looks like the Chrysler headquarters building in Michigan is in trouble. But will the CEOs who love the job so much that they will take a pay cut (yeah right) to prove their devotion to Dodge & Chrysler & Jeep? hah!! I thought the sale of Chrysler to the Germans back in the 1990s was disgusting. I was at GM at the time AND NO ONE GAVE A sheet whether Chrysler was doing the right thing or not, except me, who thought it was a rotten move by Eaton & who placed on my cubical wall that GM itself would go out of business with their present CEO Rick Wagoner (--I was almost fired for this!), who was a smart man and was making a considerable number of improvements at GM including reducing cost overruns in the company, but NEVER realized that GM, even in the year 2000, was already in an EMERGENCY situation and needed emergency efforts to fix the company. Needless to say I left in 2001 & gee in the Detroit Free Press front page article on July 11, 2008 Wagner indicated that GM had plenty of cash to survive! - But whoops uh-oh, USA had to bail out GM in a few months because they were "too big to fail" (remember that line?) when they financially collapsed. People must be blind to not see the rot after this latest merger of the former Chrysler lines yet again. What do they think this is? --A merger ping pong game with each merger strengthening Dodge & Chrysler & Jeep? Another set of American brands biting the dust after being squeezed through the ringer of stupid mergers & sales by CEOs who are well rewarded (like Eaton) for their actions. Only 27 years ago Chrysler's market share in the US was ABOVE where GM's is today(!) under the awful inept Mary Barra, who is now the VERY well paid Obama praised idiot at the head of GM, who knows absolutely NOTHING about creating great cars & trucks & is thus loved by the mainstream media.

You have no clue what you are talking about lol, people don't want EV's, the push to electric is causing gas versions to go up, they have to make up the loss somewhere. My understanding the EV wagoner is on hold now and they stopped production of the Wrangler and Gran Cherokee. You have lost your mind or a paid shill lol
