Jeep Overland Car Camping Adventure - Wild Horses and Wagon Roads in Central Oregon
Another great overland off road car camping adventure in some of the most remote Backcountry of Central Oregon exploring in my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
On this trip I wanted to see if I could locate a section of old historic wagon road, maybe find some signs of old homesteads,, and really just explore a new area. Along the way I encounter some wild horses, locate some interesting history, enjoy some great camp cooking, and enjoy exploring an area that very few people venture in to.
I hope you enjoy joining me for some off road exploring, rooftop tent camping, camp cooking, and exploring.
Hope you all enjoy!
Casey

Speaking as a native of a continent with almost no true wilderness, little to no off-road vehicular travel opportunities and zero handgun carry rights (Europe), I can only envy the paradise you have over there in the western states of the USA, and the freedoms that allow you to enjoy it to the full.

Keep up the posts, Casey! You’re one of the few quality content providers that hasn’t gone all commercial, & I really appreciate it!! I always enjoy your videos. At the risk of having a "Hallmark Moment" here, I always make a cup of coffee first, then I get settled in my chair in front of my computer, and hit the play button. For the next half to three quarters of an hour, I'm in another world, with someone such as yourself, who I now consider my friend. (Odd huh?) And together, we explore, seek out the untold mysteries which lay ahead, all the while just enjoying the great company, the good food, the campfires and of course, all the great memories that go along with it. Thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos... they're priceless.

I want to make videos that you want to sit down with your favorite beverage and join me for an adventure. I wan’t them to be videos that make people feel like they are there with me. In part because I feel like I have you all with me when I’m out there filming. Yeah my friend it goes both ways. I enjoy having you guys along keeping me company on my trips. As strange as it sounds with me being solo out there most of the time it rally does add a feeling of having my friends along with me. Cheers!

Casey, let me first of all say that I always enjoy watching your videos. You bring a unique perspective to the you tube world. That being said, I just finished watching your Bugout 1 & 2 videos. I can see that you are well prepared for most any survival situation. However, let me point out a few things for you in the spirit of constructive reality checks. In 1967-68, I was in Viet Nam. I was a member of an Army LRRP insertion/extraction team, operating almost exclusively behind enemy lines and almost always at night. As regards to open fires of any kind, we became very good at detecting wood smoke. We could detect the location of of a wood fire from up to three miles, no matter the direction of the prevailing wind. The night light you use is a dead give away. We were trained to spot a lit cigarette from a mile away. Did you know you can detect the smell of cooking odors from up yo two miles away? The point of all of this, Casey, is that no matter how good you think you are at concealment, there are people out there who are better trained at what they do. We learned right away that the secret to staying alive in the woods is stealth and movement. Never stay in one spot very long. God bless you and keep up the good work. Bill H.

We would see wild horses up around Lookout when I lived there in the early 80's. I wont ask where those where, because people will flock there and whip the place out. I am going to have to make a trip back over that way soon for a week just to look around. It's been 30 years or so since I've been out on the Desert. I always Loved that Country. I saw two badger's crossing the road where I live and oh boy were they mad as hornets. The pond and the deer in the background was fantastic. I would go back just to camp there if I were you. Thought the line about the steak on the hoof was funny. Did a little chuckle.

Another great camping video. I would do some things differently like setting up camp before sunset. I really liked your analysis of campfires. You're right, they do have different functions. When I watch your videos it's like I've been on a camping trip, even though I never left the living room or loaded up the truck.I can almost smell the coffee and bacon. And the burning juniper logs. My camping is usually associated with mining and prospecting, see you someday.

Great video Casey. Throwing chicken bones out in the dark for the creators, that reminds me of some 50 years ago, when I was about 21. A friend and I were on our first really big deer hunt in the mountains of Northern California. Our plan was to hike up on this mountain the night before opening day and let the other hunters push the deer to us in the morning. We had found kind of a sandy spot between some big rocks to spend the night. We built a small fire and were heating and eating chicken we brought with us and throwing the bones out into the dark when it dawned on these two San Diego boys, we're in '.bear country '. We spend the next 20-30 minutes with flashlights looking for chicken bones and burying them far from our camping spot. Lol Oh in the morning? Well we over slept and when we got up there was deer all around us , we spooked them and never got off a shot. By the end of the week we were hunting squirrels just to see what they tasted like. Yup, chicken.

Great video Casey. I went solo in the Ochos last year. I bought a Chevy AWD Astro van from a wrecking yard for $800. I geared it up at Goodwill and spent a great week exploring and shooting. i only saw 2 people . A magnificent adverture. i took a tablet with Gaia, a 2nd hand Coleman, my trusty Lodge skillet, coffee pot and ate regular simple meals. I stopped in your home town at Grocery Outlet and filled up a cardboard box with Potatoes, carrots, onions and apples. Wonderful peope at Prepper Up. I will be back in Sept 2020 . Thanks for the awesome adventure shared. I wish I lived closer to the east side of the state to explore that country on quick getaways like you do. Seeing what's over the hill or around the bend is my favorite past time as well. I would carry a mountain bike to do a lot of the exploring as it increases the area you can visit and is fun to boot. If you get to a difficult section, just lay it down and proceed on foot. You can use panniers to carry your field belt/gear while you ride. Helmet cams would work nicely as well.

Well done Casey. I really like how well you know the flora and fauna of the area, in addition to how well you read sign. The herd of muleys near the dirt tank was very cool! Take care and I’m looking forward to more great videos.

Good to see you out and about again. You should try some eggs over easy with those grits, mix it all right together. Rib sticking good.

For sure. That sounds great! Making me hungry here. I like grits with eggs over medium on top, with a good dash of salt and black pepper and few drops of a good Louisiana hot sauce too.

Casey , thanks for another adventure to/in Oregon . When you first got that new tent , I had replied to the video about using a hook to help with the tent , just remembered I was trying to describe a Pike Pole but it would have to not have sharp points on it . I was also wondering if you plan on adding a skid plate to the undercarriage of your Ruby , I noticed that when you drove over your camera towards the end of the video . Thanks again for another enjoyable video .

Great little adventure and trek through the woods. It's always great to hear your thoughts and observations since you've obviously studied the area ahead of time. Love how it's not just a trip, it's a search and walk through some history.

When Jeeping and 4 wheeling in the mountains, we usually stop around 5PM to set up camp. Do not like doing that in the dark, especially in a new place. Yep, 49" tent does not sound like much room, unless you're 4 feet tall ! Thanks for sharing this great video.

What's up Casey?... awesome vid as always brother... currently my family & I are on the road trip of our lives, started at home in kent wa, made our way down through Idaho then utah to prescott az, stayed in sedona, stayed somewhere in utah, made our way into Colorado, camped, drove through lower Wyoming on our way to north Nevada, camped, now we're in vegas getting reorganized and cleaned... lol... gonna make our way up California and into Oregon on our way back home, was wondering if you can suggest a great place in your piece of Oregon desert... we will be camping at many more places on our way up & I'd really like my family to experience your neck of the woods... as always brother, really enjoy the vids, can't wait for the rally this year assuming the world is doing better by then... keep it up man...
