I'm a recently retired auto body tech. About the only thing I really miss about the trade is mig welding. Most of my welding was like 22 gauge sheetmetal. Quite challenging.
@thedirtheadshed4 ай бұрын
That can be tricky. But I’m still better at it than tig. I can’t make tig and thin sheet metal work right
@larrynason87164 ай бұрын
@@thedirtheadshed My favorite is still gas welding and gas brazing. Larger stuff got stick welded. Gas is how we did it early in my career. Later it was all done with mig. and more recently silicon brass and wire feed aluminum. Unfortunately I have VERY limited experience with tig. As I said gas welding is still my favorite, it feels more hands on and personal somehow. Also as they say "a man likes to do what he is good at".

From an electrical standpoint point the electricity will take the path of least resistance which is all the paths at the same time. Because there is a gap in bearings it is more likely that 99% do the electrons will flow through the rest of the pumpkin. I imagine it would be super hard to smoke a bearing. A quality ground is way more important than where you place it in this case.

Dave thank you for continuing to create this awesome content. Can I ask a simple question? What PSI do you run your shop air at? My compressor runs at 175psi and I'm just feeding that into my shop. So I guess two questions. 1. what PSI do you recommend for shop air and 2. do you think air dryer/cleaner is critical for plasma cutting?

175 is pretty high. My compressor is preset, so I don’t know what it is exactly, but 125-140 is about perfect. A water separator/ dryer is a good idea. I use to run one of those $30 harbor freight ones on my old plasma, but i just have a little inline filter that the me plasma came with now
