Thank you for the video. Just ordered 10 Factory rears for my 08 JKU. Just installed 10 Factory front assemblies last summer and love them.

Good video, Brother. Very thorough. As you know, I replaced Becky's rear axle shafts with Chromoly last year. I was lucky to have zero hiccups. The wheel sensor gave me a struggle on one side. Otherwise, easy-peazy-lemon-squeezy. It only took about hour to do both. That included the learning curve on the first axle. Looking forward to more informative videos.

Im about to replace my seal and bearing as well. I didn't realize replacing the entire axle shaft assembly is less than 300 so I may just using it as an excuse to upgrade the axle. Good vid!

Awesome! Loved the idea of using the rotor to get the axle out. :)

I'm doing this now. If any of the pressed in bolts spin through, no need to weld. Use a nut splitter where fits to break the nut but I ended up using a metal cutting wheel to cut through part of the nuts all around, spray some PB blaster, comes right off. Just did 3 of them.

Hah. "Trying to get to about 1,000 followers by the end of the year" and now you're at 12.4K. Great video. My rear wheel bearings are bad and I'm considering replacing the shafts as well while I'm there.
@JKGearandGadgets6 жыл бұрын
Haha I know it’s crazy! And yes I highly recommend just going with a set of chromoly shafts while your in there, a little more pricey but it’s a great upgrade

Was your bearing squeaking driving down the road at all before replacing? My rear passenger side squeaks, its not the brakes I’ve replaced them and squeaking noise still there. I plan on doing this soon.

Hi im actually watching this because I need to replace my parking brake. I have a 2008 jku as well. Somehow it blew up and destroyed my abs sensor and itself. Have you replaced a parking brake before or do you know how to? im thinking I have to take the axle soft out and assemble the brake on the ground. its freaking impossible to get the return springs on the brake, theres no room. If you had any pointers that would be great. thanks man.

So it makes no difference if it’s the rubicon with locker ? Going to attempt this soon. I read where since I never pulled them out before you will need a slide or the rotor method
@JKGearandGadgets Жыл бұрын
Rubicon has shafts with unequal lengths. Standard base axles are the same length.

What happened to swapping out the axle assemblies with the Ford 1 tons?

I started to work on them but I’ve had other expenses come up, so those got put on the backburner. I’ll be sure to post up some videos once I start working on them again

Great video! My wife has a 2015 unlimited Sahara. After months of trying to figure out why the breaks were noisy and it sounded like the AFLAC duck every time she turned right, I’ve come to the conclusion that is definitely coming from the rear end. I’m considering replacing the axle shaft assembly’s. I’m hoping it’s not the diff. Have you ever gotten any weird noises due to this issue?
@joshua7999 Жыл бұрын
How did you know the flange was bent? Wheel wobble? I put on all new brake pads and rotors and I think this is happening to me because of the noise it is making.
@JKGearandGadgets Жыл бұрын
You can Jack the jeep up and put it in drive and watch to see if the flange is bent

Hey question! So the rubicon axel is one smaller than the other and the the unlimited sport are both the same size?

@@JKGearandGadgets I have a 2007 unlimited X, I purchased the “corresponding Axel” by the book and with the vin number. but when I got the replacements, they were the same size but my jeep has one axel longer than the other.. the rear passenger is smaller, so apparently the rubicon is the one that fits my jeep right? Or witch one do you recommend? Please help me with that! My jeep has been standing for almost 6 months! I can’t find the right one. 😩

If I put 8t back together and the sencor does not completely cover the spline would that throw me abs lights....
@JKGearandGadgets6 жыл бұрын
Are you getting an abs light? What all did you do?
@timratliff61386 жыл бұрын
Both wheel bearings and seal...now I get the abs lights on I noticed the sencor on the other side covers the whole tone ring but the passenger side only covers half or so....do I need to take it and get pressed more

I have an odd question. I have a 2015 Sahara x with the factory rear locker. Do I have rubicon shafts or sport?
@JKGearandGadgets3 жыл бұрын
Are you sure it’s a factory locker? Or a limited slip? Do you have the factory electric button for it?
@jasonkus50787 жыл бұрын
Are the axles different because of the e-locker? I bought a 2017 jku sport and plan on putting in pro rock front axle. I didn’t know the rear was different from a rubicon.
@JKGearandGadgets7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Rubicon rear axle is 32 spline with different length shafts because of the locker. The sport and Sahara have 30 spline shafts and are equal lengths on both sides.
@JKGearandGadgets7 жыл бұрын
And I would recommend looking into the fusion4x4 44/60 hybrid front axle. Close to the same price as a Prorock 44 but is a better choice hands down

Thanks! I have a bent flange on my 2013 JKU
@AceGoodheart3 жыл бұрын
Does the ring and pinion gear need to match the splines on the axel? Let's say you had 32 spline axels and then switched to 35 spline. Will this be okay without changing your ring and pinion gear, or do they need to match? I'm a newbie at this so it's probably a dumb question.
@MarkRenouf2 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you upgraded just the carrier to accept 35 spline axles and keep the same gears, should be fine. Usually the gears are upgraded at the same time to lower ratio... but that's not required.

the outer axel bearing race should not move by hand. it should press into place and also need a puller to remove. if you can remove it by hand the axel housing is worn.
