This is fun stuff... Reminds me of my days 20 years ago, drag racing.. only now, with an I-6.. LOL.. which is what I play with now.. I am working on a transmission lock-in/lock-out on the 42RE.. If I was to start out in 2nd and stay in 2nd, or 3rd, etc... What a pain in the A55 to do this my manual switches, and still allow the ECM to communicate and not see that something is wrong. Which also kinda reminds me of a project back in the day, to build and wire in an electric traction control into a 98 Supra.. months of work, and never used that home made module, as the car became extremely dangerous.. Ummm, I'll just leave the traction control active..lol I am glad I did it, as I learned allot on how to trick the Toyota ECM's to eithe by-pass the traction control, or still run it for normal driving.. I think it took me something like 6 months to trouble shoot and hunt down that system and reverse engineer it, to then build the module.. Of course it was a waste of time, as you couldn't safely run with out traction control on, and not have the car acting like a squirrel on crack...

Hey rusty I love what your trying to do here. I currently have a 2000 xj that I swapped in a 4.0,ax15,231 out of my old 1991 2dr Cherokee. I’ve been playing around on hptuners to get my tune just right and I think I may just copy your timing advance table with the changes that you talk about making so it dosent ping. What changes did you make to your fueling?? Is there any chance I could talk with you further on the subject, maybe even get your tune file to compare to mine? I want mine to be a monster like what yours is from what your saying. Thanks man keep up the good work

i just bought HP tuners as well if you turn on "advanced mode" its under the edit tab then you go down to view and it should show you Basic and advance...

@@newhampshiretj6217 ill have to turn on advanced mode and che k it out I ran mine this weekend with the new tune gas mileage seems to be about the same but it def runs better I need to play with my idle up in gear settings being I don't have the ecm connected it want to idle little low at times I have to check out my throttle body first could be somthing mechanical with it

@@Rusty411 yea definitely I did a little with the spark and started running mid grade fuel and got like 2-3 mpg better... but she’s a manual so I could have been how I was driving it 😂

Well i was thinking about picking up a used 5.5 inch lift this weekend but looks like i might get this instead lol i would like to do a little tuning with my jeep with my timing and injector and throttle body setup

I wish the ob2 XJ's had the knock sensor like the old renix ones. You could always add one but not sure how it would work with hptuners running the stock ECU

@@Rusty411 Yeah it would definitely help with the ping issues, and keep the timing advanced as much as possible until it detects ping to pull it back a bit

@@Rusty411 I had a knock sensor on my older nissan hooked up to a headphone amp to listen for knock while driving (an tuning of course). I doubt the ECM itself is going to be able to do anything with a knock sensor.

Thanks for the Videos!!! Can you share the tune that seeded to work the best. I have a friend with an XJ and of course he has the TCM working so I knowI could get a little more agressive with the tune for stomping it at lower RPMs while cruising. I'm still learning HP Tuners and have been playing with my 3valve 5.4 and on e-85 WHAT A DIfference, but I don't have a Wideband setup yet and so I have to be conservative on the tune, but maybe for Christmas, HAHA. The GM guys are lucking as they don't need a wideband for tuning as I believe they can use the readings from the Stock computer but not in a Ford, and of course the Jeep was old school and probably still even Batch fire on the Ignition. Anyhow, Thanks for doing the video.

i have a 98 ram with 5.2, comp cam, 28lb inj, gt28 turbo, summit ign box with 8.5 mm wires, ported and polished tb,intercooler, big all alum rad, oil coooler, deleted pcv added catch can, and etc etc i could go on all day with parts, anyways i used a 2 bar map from a pt cruiser gt with the 2.4 turbo , same motor as srt 4 neon, you have to trick the pcm and rescale the table like its showimg 2 bars, basically take your stock tune and copy paste to half the table so to speak and write the rest of the table by hand following same curb, its hard to understand i know i almoost gave up trying to find how tp add 2 bar map cuz there is no info out there especially on our jtec controllers and being it is fairly new to hptuners. hope this helps

Its a dodge map ill have to look at i think a srt neon sensor would work for a 2.5 bar or aftermarket
