to give a little bit of context behind the hiatus, I believe taeyong had a back injury so he couldn't participate in certain 127 activities. that's why doyoung said he had made a comeback because it was his first live after his injury.

Omg yes we need more dotae love these two together. For context- Taeyong is the main rapper, main dancer, visual and leader of all of nct, not just 127. Doyoung is the main vocalist. Also haechan and mark are in both nct dream and nct 127, they have both also been in nct u but that’s a rotational unit. It takes a while to grasp the concept but basically they are not limited to one subunit of the group!

NCT has an unlimited system, where the members will continue to grow. for now NCT has 23 members and 4 sub-units. the first unit is NCT U. NCT U is not a fix unit. the members can be part of NCT U according to the song that has been determined. the second is NCT 127. NCT 127 started with 7 members then the next comeback added 2 members (johnny & doyoung) and finally jungwoo joined NCT 127. NCT 127 was supposed to be 10 members but now they are active as 9 members because 1 member (winwin) will be more focus on Chinese units (WAYV). and NCT 127 is a fixed unit so the members will not increase and decrease. third unit is NCT DREAM. NCT DREAM was originally formed with a graduation system. where when they are 20 (Korean legal age) they will be transferred to another unit or a new unit. but this system was changed in 2020(?). so now NCT DREAM is a fix unit. lastly there is WAYV. WAYV is an NCT unit that focuses on China. their songs are released in mandarin. for mark haechan they are in 2 units, namely NCT ​​127 & NCT DREAM. They were able to enter NCT DREAM because at the time of their debut they were still under 20 years old. And they can enter 127 because the concept really suits them. in 2018 mark became the first DREAM member to graduate. but after the system is changed mark back to DREAM. NCT currently has 23 members with four main subunits. NCT 127 is considered "the hyungs" because they are generally a bit older and debuted before the other fixed subunits. NCT Dream has the youngest members. Originally Dream was going to be a rotational unit for minors only. Members would graduate out of it when they became adults, but they later made it a fixed unit. Mark and Haechan are members of both 127 and Dream. WayV is the Chinese subunit, and NCT U can consist of any combination of the 23 members, depending on who fits the concept best. Hope this helps. Dotae is my favorite ship in NCT. They are known as best friends who fight like Tom and Jerry but who also love and care a lot for each other. Doyoung is a Main Vocalist of NCT 127 and Taeyong is the Leader (of NCT 127 and of NCT as a whole), Main Rapper, Main Dancer, Sub Vocalist, Visual, Center, and Face of the Group. These are their official titles, and yes, Taeyong has a lot. Taeyong is also a writer, composer/producer, and choreographer, so basically, a complete all-rounder. They are kind of like the parents of NCT (not just 127 but all of NCT). Taeyong is an amazing leader with a sweet personality who tries to teach and encourage all the members, and Doyoung is cares for members like a mother. They are also two of the best cooks in NCT. If you start watching NCT 127 MVs, you recognize Taeyong as the rapper (that's not Mark, lol) and usually as the center during the chorus and dance breaks. You'll recognize Doyoung by his amazing soft and airy but powerful vocals. I would love to see your reaction to their music. 127 especially is pretty experimental, and I love it! Thanks!
