Jimmy Page was asked once what it was like to be the best guitarist? He said don't know ask Jeff Beck!!!! Of the first "guitar gods" Beck-Page-Clapton" NO QUESTION WHO WAS #1 Jeff!! Also as Page had said he just kept getting better and better. I am a 73 year old guitar player. Have followed him from the 60's. This has been a tough year for lose. Tina, Cosby, Kim Simons and a few others. All put together did not hit as hard as losing Jeff. I cried for over a week each time I saw a clip or some of the many who shared there feeling. THERE IS NOR WILL HERE VERY BE A REPLACEMENT! Thank you for all you gave to so many. RIP, NEVER FOR GOTTEN :-(((

I'm 61, I was fortunate to have been able to see Jeff and most of the greats from the 60's and 70's the best era of music ever and JB was one of the best. I'm still going to see as many of them as I can, last I saw Jeff Beck was about 10 years ago. I hope in 100 years they will look back on this era of music with the same awe and admiration as those of us who lived through it do today!

The future will have no choice but to look back and remember it, because, not only was it that period's best music, it was also the music that changed the world for the better. Rock will always be king. It may change forms but it will still always uphold the same fundamental principles as all of it's prior incarnations, namely 'rebellion' against 'the man'. SMIB

Was at this concert and must say Jeff Beck didn't disappoint in the least! The man was an absolute beast! He has been one of my favorite guitarists since the 60's. He was a great influence on me taking up the guitar in 1964! Still every time he came out he had reinvented himself! His mastery of the Strat will never be imitated to his level! Sorely missed and leaves me sad every time I think about his passing!

This touches me very much. He was so on top of his game ... amazing in every way. I can't believe he passed away just a few months after. He must be the most articulate guitar player ever or at least all the way up there. There is so much nuance in every note. The way he uses the volume and the whammy bar, vibrato and finger attack is so unbelievably unique. That is true and unsurpassed mastery. Virtuosity is not defined by notes per second - he was a real virtuoso.

As good as he was when I saw him open for John McLaughlin and Shakti in the 70s. He just kept getting better. While people his age were slowing down, or even people half his age. He still was playing full sets live standing up like he was in his 20s. It was like he was ageless. His music is ageless, and timeless. A master guitar player who kept re-inventing the electric guitar. Definitely not a one trick pony. He will be missed as a person, but his legacy as an innovative great guitarist will live on. Peace.

I’m a little lost for words right now. This one has hit me hard. Jeff was to me the ideal musician archetype. He was someone who always pushed himself to try new musical ideas, never resting on his laurels, and constantly evolving. It’s incredible to think about how much he evolved from the time of “blow by blow “through “live at Ronnie Scott’s “and then beyond as evidenced from this 2022 performance. And he was always fresh, a musician who truly demonstrated what it means to emote on an instrument. The nuance, the touch, the ability to do things that most of us fine impossible. Pure aboration for me personally…. Right up there with Charlie CHRISTIAN and Hendrix in terms of how much he changed the way us guitarists think about musical possibilities. He lived a much longer life than those other players, but still this happened far too soon. I was going to see him in Toronto this past October, but circumstances made it impossible for me to go. I regret that one now big-time. At least the music will live on forever and continue to inspire. RIP guitar slinger

So I say, God bless Barry. I’m sure like Jeff, your brother was a sweet guy. I don’t know, and have never heard a negative comment of any kind in 50yrs aimed at Jeff for anything. Period! Man.. @43:38 Jeff starts a semi-tone low, and just goes along with it! Look at his reaction, he even smiles, and finds time to place his hand on his heart, in between notes! What a Legend he is!! Jeff Beck is not "amongst the 5 best guitarists", he is the best of'em all! Even Jimi would have been standing there watching, with his jaw on the floor!!

Most people wouldn't have even noticed, if Beck hadn't done the oops move. Man Beck caught it quick. I can't think of any other time I've heard him start at the wrong fret or any off notes.

I have not seen any musician of that age still have the skill, ability, wit and talent. Of all the guitar heroes of the 60s, he is undoubtedly the one who has best preserved his skills, in this concert I think he plays the same or better than when he was 30 years old. Rest in peace. Thank you for this testimony for posterity.

A good point, David. He was 78, and still in quite good shape. His right arm more muscular than his left, as expected, but a lean, intense musician with a vibrancy that has withstood decades. Many of of "guitar gods" today are just phoning it in; every night with JB was a unique experiment. Will miss them so much.

Oh, man... JB is an example of how much better a great guitarist could get if they don't die young. No doubt about it, he got better and better until the end. No one can do what he did on a guitar. Some can play a convincing copy of Hendrix, but no one can play Jeff Beck.

Not only was Jeff Beck an incredible talent on guitar but, I've often wondered how his innovative style enhanced the playing styles of bassists and drummers. For example, when you see people like Tal Wilkenfeld and Vinnie Colaiuta play with Beck, you can see and hear the music in a whole different direction. I'm so sad and yet happy to have been living in the same time as these wonderful people.

He had just played in Chicago on Oct. 23 and I was blown away. He still was master of playing and "FEEL". He never over played it or underplayed it. It was just the right touch to every song he played. I was just in awe that night like I was when I first saw him in the '70's. I STILL can't believe he died in January. It just knocked me cold. I was STUNNED. It just did not seem real. I wish I could have met him to say THANK YOU for all the great music and the sounds that he extracted from his guitars. He was a major inspiration for me. I could never even get close..to reaching that level of technique and brilliance. He stood out amongst many and will be remembered as one of the greatest ever. He's upstairs now jamming with Les Paul, Cliff Gallup (his heroes) and oh yes.. Jimi Hendrix whom he had the greatest respect and admiration for. RIP Jeff

Jeff was never run of the mill or ordinary. He made his guitar sing in ways that nobody else can. Of all the well known guitar slingers of the 60’s and 70’s, he was by far the most unique. I saw him live a couple times one of which was a double bill with SRV. Awesome show.

It all looks so effortless, no theatrics. Unlike some other "guitar heroes" (or vocalists from very famous rock bands whose names I won't mention) who think of themselves as gods, idols. Jeff Beck was simply one of the best, if not THE best ... Been following him since 1977 (Blow by blow), and stocked up with almost everything from "Truth" to "Emotion and Commotion". A legend.

On November 12th, 2022, famed guitairst Jeff Beck treated fans in Reno to what would turn out to be his final concert. The performance marked the guitar hero’s final stop on his tour with actor-musician Johnny Depp. 24:31 Beck and Depp’s 2022 tour saw the duo perform cover tracks from their collaborative album 18, many of which were featured on that final setlist. The Reno concert included renditions of The Velvet Underground’s ‘Venus In Furs’ and the Beach Boys’ ‘Caroline, No’. Sam Kemp - JAN 2023 Source: Far Out Magazine
