I had the pleasure of hearing Jeff on a monthly basis for many Sundays at Virginia City Dancehall and Saloon in Tomball, TX where I was the DJ from 1984-1992. I went on to manage a nightclub in The Woodlands, TX where we had Jeff, and the guys play one time. My favorite was "Sure is Cold in Here Tonight". "Talkin' to Your Picture" should have been a #1 chart topper for sure. When I spoke with Jeff over the years, he was always so pleasant, and respectful. Country radio was not friendly towards him at all but the memories he created for me are timeless. In my book, he was a good man and he left us way too soon! RIP Jeff, you will always be remembered as one of the best!

Spent all my high school years (and beyond) dancing to Jeffs voice. An incredible talent in many ways and a truly good person. RIP Jeff and thanks for the memories.

Thank you so much for posting this. I wrote this song with Lee Bach over 20 years ago. I haven't seen this clip since it first aired. Jeff was a great talent. Mercury Records really let him down...long story.

Dave, this is one of the most beautiful sad songs I've ever heard. I first heard Jeff in 1990 on the Walk Softly album. He blew me away. What a phenomenal song you wrote and you got it to the absolute perfect artist to sing it. God bless y'all.

He played in four cover bands in Texas "Wild West", "Texas Pride", "The Barons" and "Chance" Used to go hear him all the time at dances-He played fiddle, steel guitar and guitar. His real last name was Barosh and was from El Campo. His brother Mickey played drums

Thank you, 62fut! Earl Thomas Conley wanted to cut this song, but we turned him down because Mercury Records assured us that this would be Jeff's "career record". Like I said in the other post, Mercury really let Jeff (and us, too) down. He was a great entertainer, not just a great singer, and he died too young.

He died ? Jesus, what I search to find his record during the 90's and I never find it. I only knew some of his songs, but it was one of the best, in the same line of Randy Travis or Alan Jackson, he deserves so much more.
