He has an incredible gift for words. And the duality of meanings here... the way it could be about a person, or maybe the inanimate object has been with him so long that it has a personality to him. We all have that thing we talk to when we're alone. We ask it the rhetorical questions we don't ask to anyone else. And it sounds like he sat down and wrote a song to thank his friend who has always been there. And honestly, I think his somewhat gruff voice, imperfect, makes it so much better and real.

When your daily relationship with your friends is "he's just that nice guy that works over on that production line..." it goes through an incredible change when this kind of opportunity occurs. In one moment they stop and gape at "who is this guy???" It is soooo much fun and so rewarding to surprise your friends with that unknown talent. Music and musicianship is one thing that can be so rewarding regardless of your age. I started playing clarinet & sax in a dixieland group when I was about 7 or 8 and singing when I was a bit older. As a guitarist of over 20 years who feels like they’ve lost there way and become disconnected from the love of my life that is guitar through so much loss… this is a wonderful reminder of the lifelong friendship and romance we create with our instruments that help show the world (but first ourselves) who we are, and who we can be. 🖤

As a 30 year old man with BPD. Guitar has been the one constant in my life. The one thing that I could vent my anger, sadness, emptiness and graciousness to. I’ve never cried so hard hearing a love letter to such a beautiful instrument.

Yes, I think by design too, but also by the happy accident of living through a mostly offline era, a private world where you could slowly develop talents like that, playing only to family and friends, without reflexively feeling 'I must put this out in social media'!
