YOU BETTA WORK!!! He isn't missing a beat!!! I've seen A LOT of high school bands that "try" to get their bands ready for HBCU BAND life.....I have never seen it executed like this!!!! OMG!!! All the drum majors were on point, but you know who stole the show!!! And he doesn't lack confidence, control, musicality or rhythm!!! I've seen a lot of caucasians try to perform like hbcu bands and we always give them a pass because at least they look decent. But if he was in full uniform or something that made it where you couldn't see that he was white, I would've sworn I was watching JSU J5!!!

As a parent of band leader. I was truly sadden by this same outcome. I sat and watched parents drop their kids off and then leave. I couldn't understand why they couldn't stay and show support for their kid. I went to EVERY GAME BUT 1 thatcwas due to my daughter being sick. You couldn't pay me to miss that opportunity to see my son perform in something he was so passionate about. He took pride in his leadership role. Never let his section dwn even when he was sick. We as blk parents can do better at supporting our kids. IT MATTERS even when you dnt think so. They remember that stuff. My son is now in college. I dnt attend all games because he not close to home. But that seed was planted in the younger years so HE knows he was supported and not left out like most of his other band members. By the way his band members would come to me after the game and say i wish my mom would come. Your lucky man tlkn to my son.

I'm white, obviously, lol, but live in Alabama & hadn't seen this guy before. At one time there was one white majorette at Alabama State University & a team I'm a fan of played ASU & I was amazed at how that white girl got down. I was in the band in my high school days before bands were the thing so I know the strength & abilities it takes to hold out to march & put on a show but this is way beyond that. It takes stamina like you won't believe & it's good to see the other drum majors as well as the band accept him as just one of them. I have biracial grandchildren & have no problem with this at all. I wish Justin the best & hope he ends up at a college near me so I can see him in person.

I keep seeing the comments were people dwelling on the fact that he's a white boy at a black school in a black band and that if he was not white it would not be a story. The store for me is not the fact that he's white it is a fact that he's accepted it to the band and that all young black kids are willing to follow him without having an issue. They are just having a good time and it is the adults that make color the issue. I know plenty of white guys and girls that can dance. Look at Britney and Justin but no one says anything about them because they're rich.
