This video shows how I replaced a broken ceramic impeller shaft with a custom made brass shaft. Using 3/8 brass rod, I cut it to length and sanded it using 400/600 grit sandpaper while spinning it in a Dremil rotary tool (to ensure even width reduction).
Instead of paying upwards of $20 for a store-bought replacement, I was able to fix the impeller for less than $4 - In all likelihood, with a more durable alternative.
