If you sing the melody along with him you will get a great appreciation of what he is doing. Following the form of the tune. This is killer! A real artist!

If I could play this well (and I certainly can't), I would be sweating profusely. The man is not breaking a sweat or breathing hard. He makes it all seem so effortless. He has the mark of someone who plays with consummate skill and musicianship. Well done!! Thanks for posting.!!

Jeff coached our combo @ Port Townsend, called one of our drum fills a "door slam," suggested we blend it a little better. I'll never forget that comment--he was right. We sat @ same table in a restaurant & talked for an hour and a half. He can play on top of the beat, or so laid back that you think he's going to miss the beat, or driving like he did with the Woody Herman big band. He is an intelligent, omnivorous guy w/ a creative streak that never rests, and top-tier aesthetics. Yay, Jeff.

Wow! It's funny, a few months back I was playing my drum in the shed out back. I didn't want to bother the neighbors, so I lost the sticks and played with my hands. I thought I was being pretentious, but it sounded hella good! Here I"m watching my first few Jazz videos on YT and the second has a guy doing the same! I need to practice...

@totigerus Bonham did not steal, but was heavily influenced by Joe Morello and probably picked up on Joe's occasional playing part of the Take Five solo with his hands.
