I think the reason why Bray Wyatt's passing hit so hard is because it was out of nowhere. He had just come back, he was part of this slow burn storyline (maybe a little too much of a slow burn, honestly) and then suddenly... he's gone forever. Plus he had all those young kids too.

A lot of potential to sell merchandise, but I hated the entire presentation. Tp be fair, I'd probably have hated the Undertaker too if he came along in an era with 3 hour television shows and a PPV a month. Too much time for the creatives to think of stupid stuff to do.

The Fiend/ Bray Wyatt was an amazing gimmick put on the wrong wrestler. The real life guy was a terrible wrestler who got hurt all the time, plus he was kind of a mark for himself and hated doing jobs. Imagine if that gimmick was given to someone like Priest or Kross instead though.
