Excellent point about great hitters making changes. When George Brett hit 3 homers v. the Yankees in the 1978 playoffs, he used an open stance. When Brett hit his ALCS winning homer against New York in 1980, he used a slightly closed stance (and hit .390 that season). When Brett hit the pine tar home run in 1983, he was drastically closed.
