Agreed on Yamaha drums in general. I owned Ludwig Classics new and vintage for years until I realized paying for a name/legacy with over inflated pricing. In fact for recording like this or home practice the Yamaha Stage Customs sound better,more controlled without all the sustain and wow.

Nice!! I have a Yamaha absolute maple from the late 90s and it’s still great looks and sound to this day. Always wanted to try that beech kit.

@@darranmuller They are also higher quality. Both PDP and Sonor models coming from Asia have a high incident of bad shells. (bearing edges badly cut). Yamaha (and I've seen them since they adopted the node mounting late 70's) have NEVER had quality issues. I've also compared these to Pearl vision VBX, which sound lifeless and thin by compare.

That is some serious skills you put on display there! Very nicely done. I found this video while I was researching the potential purchase of a set of these Yamaha Stage Custom Birch drums. And man oh man, this video here only further reinforces my opinion that this is the best sounding kit on the market in this price range. Fantastic sound and tone! These rival the quality of drums that cost 2x or 3x more. And now that I watched this, I just might have to purchase those cymbals and hi-hats too. They likewise sound very rich and nice.
