SPECIAL NOTE: I have never monetized by channel (up since May 2007). You can verify that with You Tube. I never monetized my channel because I wanted zero trouble from a legal standpoint (THAT is when moral issues, copyright laws, etcetera come into sharp focus). So I PAID for these videos [except this one- Jeff was awesome enough to provide it for me] but I have made not one dime from them...as it should be. I am merely a humble fan wishing to help promote these great artists WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED WHATSOEVER. Just a true, from-the-heart fan here.

Absolutely but Odyssey with Joe Lynn Turner deserves kudos.
My only real issue with Yngwie is that after a while his technique is rather predictable, his lyrics are corny as fuck/dumb especially the ones for I Am a Viking, and then there's his ego.

*I have a story to share, since J.S.S. was asked about Jens and Anders Johasson. In 1985, I believe it was, my buddies and I followed Yngwie's tour bus to their hotel after their Rising Force concert in Corpus Christi, Texas. At the time, Talas was touring with them. Yngwie and Jeff Scott Soto went on in to their rooms after we congratulated them on a show well done. Jens Johansson, Anders Johansson and Marcel Jacob stuck around with us in the parking lot. They were obviously very tired and hungry. They asked us if there was any place to eat near by. We ended up driving them to the nearest Whataburger restaurant and came back to the parking lot where we chatted with them, as they ate their food. Those guys were the funniest Swedes ever. They had a great sense of humor. Marcel was an awesome guy. R.I.P. Marcel Jacob. The Rock world lost a helluva Bass player.*

IMO Rising Force was the best Yngwie album. Its sad he didn't go on in that direction and continued as a normal Rock/Heavy band doing mostly songs instead of instrumental works. With his first album Malmsteen changed entirely the face of electric guitar.

The great Jeff Scott Soto (Yngwie Malmsteen, Journey, Transiberian Orchestra, Talisman, Sons of Apollo, etc.) graciously answers my 10 questions about Yngwie Malmsteen, Sons of Apollo, and related matters. Extremely cool! Great stuff! 6/19/20 1) Was it tough being the only non-Swedish musician in Rising Force? 2) Do you have mixed emotions about Yngwie- he gave you an amazing start in the business, yet it seems he could be cold and distant? 3) What were Jens and Anders like? 4) Was that weird seeing the heavily-played video for I’ll See The Light Tonight and hearing YOUR voice, yet SEEING someone else (Marc Boals) lip sync your words? 5) History repeated itself with the video for Carry On Wayward Son: Boals lip syncs your performance! What was that like? 6) Sons of Apollo is seen as “the new Dream Theater” or “Portnoy’s Dream Theater”: Derek on keys, THE SAME LABEL AS DREAM THEATER (Inside Out/Sony---very cool!), another bass legend (Sheehan instead of Myung), another guitar god (Bumblefoot instead of Petrucci) and another vocal god (you instead of LaBrie)….and you guys do a few Dream Theater songs! Thoughts? 7) As a fan, to my shock and surprise, THREE of my Cameo videos became major Blabbermouth articles (and other off-shoot articles), including a Loudwire article! I know Cameos are normally just for birthday shout-outs and so on, but are you alright with the media taking the ball and running with these videos [Cameo DOES say that you can do whatever you want with the video, but I didn’t know some would “blow up” like they have!]? 8) Will Sons of Apollo continue to release new music (I pray the answer is yes)? 9) Brother, how do you NOT age haha? You look the same or better since I saw you with Yngwie way back in July 1985 at the Syria Mosque Ballroom in Pittsburgh with BILLY SHEEHAN’S TALAS opening for you guys? 10) The live Sons of Apollo DVD/Blu Ray is so epic! That HAS to be a highlight of your career! 😊

@JEFF SCOTT SOTO, Hey brother i hope you read this, I just wanted to say despite all the things that were out of your control/decision you were hands down the perfect vocalist for Rising Force! I still have my old VHS copy of "Live in Japan 85"(red cover version) with the original line up that was a major influence on me. It was never the same after you left (i am sure many will back me on this) I am really happy to see you continuing in the music biz and not disappear like many do.

I met Jeff Scott Soto after a gig on the Yngwie Rising Force tour. They were the opener (for AC/DC I believe). We managed to find the tour bus at a hotel near the venue. Jeff stepped off the bus, talked to the three of us and was extremely gracious. We were looking for Yngwie, and while meeting Yngwie was thrilling, Jeff was awesome meeting us at the spur of the moment. It's the only time I've ever met him, but I'll never forget it.

I‘ve seen sooooo many interviews with all these my musical heroes... but somehow what YOU achieve to get as answers to exactly the questions I would like to have answered... awesome. And even these are all professionals and as Jeff says he’s aware that everything he says could backfire at him.... I have the strong feeling that they answer way more frankly and direct no BS than in every „official“ interview. I loved the ones with Jordan and Ron already now this is another gem! Thank you Vince and a thousand thanks to Jeff - he could have done this cameo in 30-60 seconds without breaking the cameo contract... therefore: Great great content guys. Thank you from a huge (!!!) former (1985 until 2010 era... but that stuff of course forever!) Hey Mr. Soto this is Charlie! I played bass for a band called Shockwave Evan Snyder played guitar and Matt Heamond played drums and keys. You and Aldy invited us three loonse to record a demo that you not only sang on but pretty much took care of everything. I never really got a chance to say thanks Jeff. You took a song that I wrote rearranged the chorus. Added those bad ass harmonies in backup vocals that you do. The Traveler that little wood shack I built you turned it into a skyscraper. Three of the songs turned out awesome. The fourth song "LOVE" we didn't have time to really put time into it. I wrote that song and I remember the mic wouldn't pick up the acoustic guitar parts I was recording you said to me "It would help if I learned how to play guitar!" Asshole that pissed me off. But i'll tell you what by you saying that to me. Was the kick in the balls that still drives me today. learned a great deal from you Jeff in a real real short period of time. From ego to production tacking a little melody and turning it in to something huge you influenced me to the point of complete ASSHOLE! And I mean this with all the respect in the world brother! Because I make God jealous and drivin to rage and satan quit and now whimpers like a child. Thank you my friend for pushing me that extra mile. Lateeeeeeeeeer!

Jeff is a legend in my book, one of the truly great vocalists and good guys in music … When I first heard Yngwie on the Steeler album, and then a year later w/ Alcatrazz, I absolutely loved him .. The first few Rising Force albums were great, but ultimately, Yngwie, in my opinion, suffered tremendously because of his inability to take the advice of Dirty Harry : "a man's got to know his limitations" .. Yngwie believes he can go into a studio with no help and replace the expertise and talents of good producers and fellow musicians .. He's wrong .. Yngwie's downfall was Yngwie … Anguish And Fear, On The Run Again and I Am A Viking still stand as some of my favorite metal songs, and they wouldn't be on that list without Jeff … RIP Marcel Jacob ...Great video, thank you for the upload

Based on what I've seen the past few years, it seems Yngwie wants to be a one man show now. Not sure why, because his best stuff was when he had good musicians with him. The stuff with Jeff and the stuff with Joe Lynn Turner were his best albums, in my opinion. It's a shame Yngwie can't realize this, but it's his thing, so he can do whatever he wants.
