Thanks so much for giving us the tour! I haven't seen a hoop house with such a wide, open feel; Looks like a fun place to just relax.

Healthy Ranchu! Please don't forget to release them back to their pond from the tiny viewing bowl as the Sun's radiation can boil them over time! 🌷🌿🌍💗🐠

Where did you get a hoop house that big?
@thompsonglass4 жыл бұрын
this one was custom built with galvanized pipe from the steel yard and a tube bending machine. each hoop is made of 4 sections of galvanized pipe that has been custom curved to make a 27 foot wide hoop. Then the hoops are spaced 3.5 feet apart to make the tunnel 70 feet long

Jeff what temperature can the water get down to in winter without killing the fish I live in Ireland and it gets down to 2 c below for a week or two in winter
@thompsonglass Жыл бұрын
The ranchu can survive very cold temps, even with some ice forming on the surface, but it saps their fat and energy reserve very fast and I don't recommend letting it get that cold. I aim to keep water temps between 5 and 10 deg C through the winter months. The ranchu hibernate during this time and I don't feed them until temps water up in the spring.
@lusean193 Жыл бұрын
Jeff can you get that temperature in the greenhouse?
@thompsonglass Жыл бұрын
@@lusean193 I heat the ponds through the winter to keep them from icing. I live at 1200 M elevation on the 45th parallel...... we have long cold winters here: instagram.com/p/BuUdffxh-jc/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
