To those of you who want to play the game. It's a real chore and in many ways broken. I recall one game that was lost because the Martians couldn't attack the ship off shore. No way to get out of it. I think I gave up. Love the atmospherics and the music - I've known about Jeff Wayne's rock opera since the beginning. But the game is, sadly, not worth the effort.

Yes I have both albums but I’ve come to learn that a lot of music from the cutscenes were written for the cutscenes. Which is a shame because there is some good music there

So I am guessing either the aliens die or they leave with a few humans and will stay on mars for a while until they become immune to most to the bacteria and viruses of our planet and will reclaim earth.

Ah, but the book implies they have no functioning immune system, all disease having been conquered a thousand or more years before. A hundred additional years or so of genetic engineering may be required to re-establish a population that can colonise earth and survive. All this work delayed as without any sample humans nor specimens of disease it may be difficult to engineer a new species that can survive unknown pathogens. No Martians were able to leave the planet as the interplanetary method of travel they chose was decidedly a one-way trip. So, by my reckoning they will return toward the end of this century. Just be thankful you will be an old man and will have lived, hopefully, a happy life. They WILL return.
