I just started training 2 colleagues and we were JUST about to start targeting this week. I really dislike the updated targeting but now I can see why it was changed: to allow for this! Thank-you Jeff! You saved tens of thousands of hours of work across all of us C3d users!

As always, nice work Jeff! One remark though on the feature itself. Beside the fact that it's very easy to do targetting with subassemblies that don't support targetting initialy, offset targets created this way, will create less accurate geometry in terms of widths of curbs, sidewalks,... at the transition itself. This because of the fact that assemblies are always inserted orthogonally on the baseline. So for tapers with fairly large widening at a short distance, it will create e.g. curbs with wrong widths. For transition in elevation on the other hand, it's very usefull...
@Ranzoape2 жыл бұрын
This will come so in handy when creating corridors for trenching! When you get in to a bend / corner I always create new targetlines with a transition and so on to create a wider trench for a bend. Now it will be way easier! Same goes for weldingpits with wierd transitions / clean ups. Next step will be to get Dynamo doing this. Thank you Sir.

THANK YOU!!! I have been using a transform generator subassembly to calculate a transition variable but that always clogged up my list of assemblies as I had to create one for each transition. This looks much easier to use.

Hi Jeff! Is there a way to configure the taper lane with an opposing slope? For instance, main carriage exhibits a negative slope (-), while extending the widening road with a positive slope (+). Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

God Bless you always! Jeff, is it posible to model a cross slope transition on straight road corridor (no curves) to be more specific, inverting the cross slope?

Nice and detailed, thank you, but so fast! Only after much pausing and rewinding was it possible to follow.

Hey Jeff, thanks for this video! For some reason, when I edit the lane width, my curb subassembly doesn't like it. The lane transitions just fine, but the curb "chops up" and is ragged along the transition taper. Do you know why it does this?

Could this be used to transition the tie-back slope to the target like a right of way? For instance, station 0+00-3+00 I need a 3:1 back slope, but from 4+00 to 9+00 a 6:1 would be better. The transition would obviously need to be from 3+00 to Station 4+00. This feature seems a long time coming. The previous method involved voodoo.

Thank you for the update and the video. Is it possible to make slope transition for corridor where is already set offset target?

Hi Jeff. Can we give transition for both width and height at the same time. Here is the situation, where a rolled kerb of 400mm width and 200mm height to be transited to flush kerb(which is 100mm width)

Hi Jeff! I really appreciate your work! I was wondering if there is an option to change bay taper transition formula to act more like fillet with defined radius?

After I apply the transition following the steps shown in the video, the contours along the curb at the lane transition look a bit funny and not smooth. Is there a way to smoothen the curb & gutter contour/tin? Thanks in advance.

This is an extremely useful tool to speed up workflow, very much appreciate the insight. I wonder if the transition could work with BoC height. If so, this could make modeling driveways much easier versus having to create custom subassemblies or edit elevations via feature lines given municipality standards.

You could do this before learning another trick I learned from Jeff, the number generator assembly part. So if you work at a company that is really slow to upgrade their Autocad version, you can do this instead: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jV7JZXimbLmLr6c The only caution on this way, is that it requires anyone using it to have the custom assembly part loaded. So if you are like me, and your boss refuses to load your assembly part, they will get a .NET error.
