This song has helped me through so many hard emotional times in my life since I first heard it in 1967, from break-ups in adolescence to the death of my son in 1985 and most recently the passing of my husband of forty five years. Sad but somehow cathartic, reminding us in a beautiful way that loss and the sorrow it brings is an inevitable part of life that we all share. Thank you, Marty Balin. You knew the human heart well.

No auto tune. No ProTools. No digital manipulation. Just great musicians, a great singer and great lyrics. It makes me both mad and sad when when younger people claim that the music from the 60s and 70s was crappy. I'll take this kind of music instead of the over-produced modern stuff any time.
