This was one of two songs that became huge worldwide hits during 1967 which gave that summer the nickname "The Summer Of Love" (the other being The Beatles' "All You Need Is Love"). But that summer also saw the war in Vietnam continue, war break out in the Middle East (won by Israel in just six days), a civil war breaking out in the Nigerian province of Biafra (most of it's casualties were civilians who starved to death), and deadly riots in Detroit and Newark. Maybe the younger generation of that era was trying to say (or sing) a message to those in power.

Grace Slick looks so radiant in her black velvet cloak. My 17 year son kept asking me to repeat the part when she says: "Your eyes,I say your eyes may look like his, But in your head baby, I'm afraid you don't know where it is." I'm tired of singing, and now my throat hurts, lol But it was worth it ! I keep hiding all of my photo albums because they're full of too many wonderful, beautiful, joyful memories. I wish there was a time machine that could take us back in time. But, when I think about it, it's all a beautiful dream that will become just a memory.
