Grace has such a powerful voice. Absolutely amazing. Still listen to their albums. Yes, I'm old. My Montgomery Wards turntable and 8 track player still work Pop gave it to me on my 12th birthday. I was 16 when this song came out. I spent a lot of time in my car because we were only allowed country music at home. Grace was so powerful that it almost hurt. But my first love was and remains today....The Doors. Grace and company represented San Francisco, Haight/Ashberry, flowers and free love. I lived in Arizona where we had fast cars, dark music and the promise of a day of reckoning. Jimmy is still 27, RIP Man.

This was one of two songs that became huge worldwide hits during 1967 which gave that summer the nickname "The Summer Of Love" (the other being The Beatles' "All You Need Is Love"). But that summer also saw the war in Vietnam continue, war break out in the Middle East (won by Israel in just six days), a civil war breaking out in the Nigerian province of Biafra (most of it's casualties were civilians who starved to death), and deadly riots in Detroit and Newark. Maybe the younger generation of that era was trying to say (or sing) a message to those in power.

I was born far too late to have heard this when it was current, and I mourn that, because this is amazing. Guys at my college would set up a pair of gigantic speakers high in a dorm window overlooking the quad and blast this through the autumn air on Saturday morning. Unmatched experience.

Grace Slick looks so radiant in her black velvet cloak. My 17 year son kept asking me to repeat the part when she says: "Your eyes,I say your eyes may look like his, But in your head baby, I'm afraid you don't know where it is." I'm tired of singing, and now my throat hurts, lol But it was worth it ! I keep hiding all of my photo albums because they're full of too many wonderful, beautiful, joyful memories. I wish there was a time machine that could take us back in time. But, when I think about it, it's all a beautiful dream that will become just a memory.

I remember when Grace was at one of the Jefferson Airplane's concerts singing, and there was this annoying dude interrupting her. and the music. She took the microphone that she was holding and began to hit him and told to shut up! I was shocked! Not only is she beautiful but very tough!

I watched one of Grace Slick's interviews from 2013. She still has those beautiful blue stormy eyes, and spoke about Paul Kanter. I thought they broke up a long time ago? She also mentioned her beautiful daughter, China. I send her all of my best wishes.
