honestly one of my favorite parts about this video was how respectful you are with social distancing. you make it VERY clear to other hikers that you are there to ride your bike, not spread covid

Thanks Adza- with the wind and everything in the woods, I don't feel too unsafe, but I just try to give space when it's possible. I'm far more concerned about going indoors, like to the grocery store, than anything on the trails.

Here in New England, techy climbing is a big thing (at least for me. I love the challenge and sense of accomplishment). This is a revelation to me that a longer travel bike would be a better climber. But between the Ripley and the Mojo 4, which one is the better climber?

do you think a fox 36 140mm would add to it's downhill capability? I just bought one and I'm thinking of selling the 34 as a new takeoff since I'm 200 lbs and will be taking it through chunky northern California terrain, Santa Cruz steeps and mostly bay area trails near me

I dont think they make carbon AF models. I thought the whole thing of AF is that they only come in alloy.
@JeffKendallWeed3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha right?! I have no idea of Ibis' plans. But following common sense logic, the Ripmo AF came out with the updated geo (and more progressive suspension too), in ~August 2019, then a few months later in ~Feb 20 the Ripmo V2 came out with both those tweaks. I would guess that the Ripley V4, which is coming up on it's third year of sales(2019, 2020, 2021) would get an update at some point. I would guess that a Ripley V5 would follow the lead of the AF, but again, I have ZERO insider insight, and am simply working off historic trends. Would I wait for such a bike? No, with how sold out everything is now, I'd just buy whatever I could find. An Angleset and a volume reducer both work fine.

Jeff, what fenders are you using, love the full,coverage???
@JeffKendallWeed3 жыл бұрын
The rear is a mud hugger and works awesome. The front is an RPR Pro Guard that bolts into the Fox crown, it also works great. Riding in these conditions with fenders is WAY better!

What’s the appeal of D ring closures? I just wind up getting a quick release.
@skullsroad36423 жыл бұрын
I hate d-rings. Although they are probably safer in a major crash, I'm not riding Rampage so I'm cool with a Fidlock.
@JeffKendallWeed3 жыл бұрын
Christina, I did a little research and I actually didn't see any conclusive evidence of d ring being safer. It's personal preference. For a big-hit helmet I do trust d-rings a tad more. My Tyrant that I ride with daily uses a quick release and it feels fine. But the switchblade is so much beefier it's a whole different deal. I feel like the mass of the swtichblade requires the beefier buckle.
@okayatbikes19093 жыл бұрын
@@JeffKendallWeed thanks for the reply! I’ve known motorcycle helmets to have them, then my kid’s full face came with one and thought that maybe it was a dual purpose helmet(I wouldn’t use it as such without referring to manufacturer’s documentation). Then I saw you with the switchblade and wondered if I was missing some bit of info. Thanks for taking the time to reply!!

This or the Norco Optic? Or the RM Altitude?
@JeffKendallWeed3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the note- I have not ridden an Optic, but definitely want to try it. Altitude is a whole different class of bike, with a lot more travel. Altitude has 15mm more travel than the Ripley's older brother, the Ripmo.
@dtolios3 жыл бұрын
@@JeffKendallWeed , love your playful videos. I understand that the Altitude is a different beast vs. the short travel trail bikes like the Optic or this Ripley, but you were super enthusiastic about it and claimed it could do it all. My current bike is a Norco Torrent HT with 150mm fork, but toying with the FS idea.
