I lately switched from a 2020 H20 to maxed out 2022 LT and couldn't be happier. I am more a n00b tour biker (60km+ trips) than a downhiller, but the H20 sometimes felt too much like riding a panzer, even for me: it rolls over everything, but hard to steer. The LT is like a dream, climbs like a dream, pretty playful and cries for being ridden on harder trails (wearing protective gear). Maybe because is a pretty short bike. Anyhow, if you are new to full suspension bikes, and don't known what to buy: pick an occam. You won't regret it.

@cowboychicken1234 - If you still want to demo one, check with your local dealer. I don’t know if this is common, bu my local shop - North Rim in Chico, CA - has an Occam SL that I just rode and had a blast on. Not sure if they have an LT, but if I can ride one I’d like to. I currently ride a Ripley, and while my bike is a better build than the demo Occam I rode, the Occam really responded to spirited riding, just as Jeff said in the video. I liked it!

The Rallon for me (6'2" size L) felt like the sweet spot between trail and enduro. I'm in the Bay Area with flow, root/rock gardens, steep climbing and sends, mud and sandy. The works. I've been able to progress on the Rallon and it's my go to for the long days (although my Scout gives me the best feedback and feel of the trail). The Rocky felt like too much bike for my skill level and multiuse trails. The Rocky was at home in Whistler. I was lucky to borrow from a friend. Im not there yet on big jumps, big drops, and fast corners which I think the Altitude's geo and suspension was intended for. Jeff and Steve are the few that articulate well where and who a bike is for.

Jeff. Appreciate your reviews. I’m looking at either a Mojo 4 or Occam because my go to weekday after work trails are super tight with lots of tight turns and are more XC oriented. But on the weekends I like to ride higher speed trails like Ashland and other higher speed flow style trails. I’m 45 yeas old 5’8” and 150lb. I like a quick and responsive bike but also like to haul ass an charge. I like to attack the trails and use body English an constantly pedal for speed. I’m leaning towards the mojo but concerned about going back to 27.5 after being on 29ers the last 4 years. I have owned many many bikes but and usually have a quiver of bikes but I’m looking to have a one bike quiver now. Between the the Occam and Mojo which bike due you think is a better bike. @@zagester on smooth trails, nice and soft works great. On the rockier stuff, i pump to what feels hard to touch and ignore actual pressure. This is particularly important for the rear, which needs to be at 2 bar in the rough stuff to avoid punctures. The front tire can much softer, as it doesn't snakebite or burp as easily. You make me think that we should invent a new sport, doable with current technology, with a small tweek to fit this goal: How much air time can you get on a bit of trail, with a time limit for each section, and a penalty for the slowest rider? time aspect just for keeping it tight. What say you?
@JeffKendallWeed2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha the "airtime" feature is already live on a few ride recording/GPS aps. I refuse to use live GPS tracking features though, as it feels like a privacy invasion to me. The ap developers sell all that data to the government, and that can easily be used against us. Sedona recently had a big ball of drama after a bunch of locals got called out by the forest service for riding some non-sanctioned trails. They all said they didn't- then the Forest Service mentioned they had purchased all that data from Strava directly. My solution? Just don't use GPS tracking. I know the phone is pinging cell towers constantly, but that seems less risky than an actual ride recording ap.

@JeffKendallWeed2 жыл бұрын
Ah Phil, you just made me realize that I should have included the voice over bit about how I can't tell the difference of 10mm more rear travel. 10mm more fork travel? Sure. But 10mm of rear travel isn't significant IMO. I did notice that it is slightly more progressive, but the ~3-4mm more sag isn't that significant. Rear travel is rarely more noticeably than fork travel.
@philanderson95502 жыл бұрын
I've also added some custom offset bushings as well to my 2020 occam. I ended up only using one because the 10mm BB drop (with both) was a bit much with the BB already so low. Since I just bumped the fork from the 140 to 150, which bumped up the BB drop around 5mm, the offset bushing allowed me to add another half degree of slackness to the HTA (now 65 versus 66 before) while brining the BB back to the original height. Pretty happy with that configuration so far.
