I was a David Berman`s fan for the past 15 years and I don`t know Jefrey`s work (going to look it up), but this demands the utmost respect from me. Bless you, Jeffrey.

I know there is always this want to stay cool but I am now a believer in actually telling the amazing people in your life just how much you admire, respect, appreciate what they've done. I no longer wait until their funeral to let them know how much they mean to the world, they deserve to know it before it's too late. It might not change their actions in the future but awesome people deserve to see themselves from your perspective even just for a few seconds.

Thank you for sending this email. I find consolation in David’s music and your eulogy, knowing that he had the luck for someone to tell him what we feel so intensely about him.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve been thinking about David a lot lately. And watching this now has inspired me. I want to be as sincere as this when speaking about and to those I admire. Also, I listen to the Purple Mountains record at least once a week from start to finish. I never want to forget how honest and brilliant that record is.

Really moving words. Why did I not know David's music that well until after he died? He was such a special soul and songwriter.

I recently got into David berman and was amazed by what he did. He didn’t have to show us how much he loved and lost or what battles he was losing, but he did. I’m not sure what drove him to keep producing this stuff even while in the deep (I’m not an artist or musician at all) but I’m glad he did. And I’m glad you reached out to him even though you might of thought you were being uncool or cheesy. I don’t think anyone could save David but at least you let him know he did things that mattered. I like this saying because it really sums up what that email did and how we should treat eachother “ If you admire somebody you should go ahead and tell them People never get the flowers while they can still smell them”. Thanks for doing that, you made my heart ache in the best way possible. Whenever I listen to him now I’m going to think of David as Rambo battling the insurmountable.

i knew the moment he started reading he'd probably cry April of 19 had me in a similar dark space, and that amazing homage he wrote hit like a ton of bricks I'll be honest. im new here. just found this guy and the band and just wanted to look into more stuff. But after that....I have to find out more about that dude. sounds like an incredible loss to everyone who knew him. Proud of this guy to keep going like this

Wow. You were so lucky to know him and to WORK with him kinda. I've always loved David. You really did gush!! Haha, but it was awesome. Great job. I'm sure it made him happy. I still get sad and love to listen to SJ and Purple Mountain, when I'm not sad too, but these days I dont cry as much, no darkest thoughts. I wish David couldve found a cocktail of meds that worked for him too

Breaks my heart. I think one of the worst things that go through someone's mind when they reach the end and can no longer get through their battles anymore is what they leave behind. I didn't know Dave Berman, but he left behind something that I will always have, and even though I can never experience anything new from him, I will always feel he gave everything he could and that was enough.
I haven't laughed one bit. Quite the opposite actually, even all this time later. It hurts. Will this wound ever heal? Not looking good.

I don’t think I’ll ever truly get over his passing. It’s so hard to watch people who you relate to so heavily succumb to the same demons that plague you.
