Speaking as an editor, this is a frontrunner for song of the year. Speaking as a human being, this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life. I've been on the edge of tears with each listen for the past few days. Thank you, Jeffrey.

Jeffrey is my favorite singer songwriter and his work never disappoints. This song breathes summertime memories.

He is the John Prine for the new century... Sad blue eyes and Coalfire are beyond description and this one is right along with them. Everyone i have turned on to Jeffery and there are many all say the same thing....."How did I miss this guy...thank you for sharing"... but sometimes I feel selfish and think I should keep him all to myself. My own little beautiful little secret.

Good call on Prine.

This song just rips me to shreds. Somehow he captures a purer, simpler time - reminds me of living in Portland long ago, before the riots and the burnings and the never-ending graffiti and the unconscionable poverty and underserved folks with nowhere to go. How did we let that beautiful city and the people who love it down so? Somehow Jeffrey gives me hope for it again…

Those are the consequences of voting blue no matter who, its not an accident that its only the blue cities that are like this, and none of the red states or cities were touched. You get the treatment you deserve because you get the treatment you allow. Idealism doesnt always translate into reality. You can deny reality, but you cant deny the consequences of denying reality.

You started on a John Prine vibe and took it for a Jefferey Martin ride. Wonderful song! Thank you!

I still remember the first time I heard Coal Fire. I had to pull over and cry in a Walgreens parking lot. Today, it’s a gas station and There Is a Treasure on repeat 🥹😭 Can’t wait for the new album! See you in SLC!

Waiting to die is one of the most tragic, avoidable disasters we are all confronted with. Loved you guys in Des Moines. Road trips are rough and bring out a different you.

[Verse 1] The city will still be moving in the morning A million lives all breathing like a tide Each one a story beyond our comprehending Each trying to make a life and feel alive And the trees will bloom down along the river And the kids will race the fountains in the light And someone will cry and pray that it gets better And someone will stop and try to change a life [Chorus] And the sun will rise like it always does On the day that I die And the world will spin, the sun will go on burning Never even knowing I was alive [Solo] [Verse 2] There’s a treasure that we all know, but we can’t have it It’s a place beyond the measure of our minds It is where we go when we forget we’re living It is where we go when we forget we die And all the tools we use to feel important They are useless as a sailboat in the sky Where old bones and heartaches are forgotten It’s a place we don’t have words to describe [Chorus] And the sun will rise like it always does On the day that I die And the world will spin, the sun will go on burning Never even knowing I was alive
