How can the Americans be not ignorant of other countries, when your embassador to the country knows nothing about the country, and can't speak a single word in the local language? Not only that, even the so-called journalists, sent to report on on a country, know nothing about the country and can't speak a single word in the local language. How do you think the can inform your countrymen correctly? Can you imagine embassadors and journalists sent to USA can't speak English?

Thank you prof for your fairness. Not all Americans behave like their leaders, so obnoxious most of the time. Jimmy Carter: " the US is the most warring state , out of 227 years of existence, only 17 years not warring with others."

Unlike china’s, a great majority of high school & college students are not curious about China & China history bc most high schools either don’t teach Chinese history, Chinese literature.

Jeffrey, history needs to play out just as it did with the British Empire and just as the British Empire had to slink back to the Island after having its ass handed to them the the US needs to suffer a defeat and sail back to its refuge 'Island' between two great oceans.

The only reason why the Brits and Muricans didn't go to war during the late 1800s is because they share " similar " values and similar cultural background. The US will definitely want to start a conflict with the Chinese by hook or by crook.

@@Frannie12no need to change course, this is a natural decline of an empire. Any efforts to reverse this always ends violently. The Indians sacrificed much of its population to defend the British empire twice before independence. A peaceful transition of power is a myth

China, Japan & South Korea has had ancestral cultural education in language using Tao Te Ching classics....and households generally practices its philosophy to this day... I bet whichever way the government do, the citizens will go their own path of bettering their families. Imagine the 1 child policy for decades, 4 adults nurturing a child, what quality emerge? When worldview change, families will go with the flow, but none are lazy, lackadaisical, expecting handouts

Instead of war or peace, we now talk about war with Russia or war with China -- choice of wars is the competition, instead of anyone thinking of ways to avoid war as our one and only method of dealing with the whole world.

Jeffery Sachs has told so much incorrect in another report re Ukraine, so I cannot believe anything he says, even if he claims to understand China. He seems to like making a huge one sided noise for effect, to gain self serving attention rather than sticking to the facts of the whole story for real honest clarity. He ignored the treatment, herding into concentration camps, organised gang rape, starvation and murder the Serbs along with the bosnian Serbs inflicted on the Bosniaks when criticising NATO’s intervention there. Maybe he shoukd have been there and placed in one of those camps, or chased from his warm house into the those snow laden hills to watch his wife being gang raped. Then he would be entitled to claim NATO should have done nothing to try containing Serbia and be freeing Bosnia.

I agree with everything your saying about the U.S. posturing for war with China & it seems to be souly based on their want/need to economically reduce them so America stays No.1. But here in Australia I feel endangered by their actions, building bases in our local area, they have control of 2 of our largest ports & we have all the raw materials here that they seek & would make them an unstoppable future power, also their posturing hostility toward us sanctioning our largest export to them just as one example.
@marclandreville6367
@marclandreville6367 11 ай бұрын
Do Chinese interests controlling those 2 ports place them above Australian law? Did those 2 ports fall under Chinese sovereignty? Of course not. Maybe you think that the Chinese invasion fleet will have free and unstoppable access to Australian ports? Watch for China starting to buy Australian bus companies: they will then allow the unfettered transportation of Chinese invasion troops, especially if China buys all the petrol stations between Darwin and Canberra. OTOH, maybe it's time to stop reading the Sydney Morning Herald, and pay a bit more attention to Paul Keating before he's silenced for good.

Why blame the Chinese when your government or corporate open up for them to purchase whatever they need to. It is called capitalism, if your government fail to regulate , it is not the Chinese fault.

America is building bases in Australia. You've given away you sovereignty without pushback. Oz cancelled french sub contracts to purchase US subs under duress from Washington. The greatest threat to Australia is the US.

@@marclandreville6367 iv never read th papers & my favorite t-shirt says bring bak PK, haha. I feel China's moves seem to have a definite long term interest in Australia, the unknown for me is wether it will be hostile, I'm a huge fan of Jeffrey Sachs & his opinions on foreign policies, but feel when it comes to Australia he simply may not know as his experience is very northern hemisphere & he's not am expert on Australia & it's masses on natural resources e.g., we've all th critical elements for electronic chips & lithium batteries, I'm of th belief we are th only continent on earth that has everything.

Australia is played like a fiddle by the US. Australia is effectively a vasal state of the US. When China decided to stop buying wheat from Australia anymore, guess who took over Australia's wheat business? The US is a dying empire that desperately wants to stay on top of the world. History tells us that it won't work.
