She was incredibly nice to her fans! I waited at 14 outside the Papermill Theater and she signed one of my favorite autographs. She brought the house to her feet doing Panama Hattie and looked so beautiful! Years later doing Follies she took pictures with fans. What a Lady! What a talent! Such a a gem!

Saw her at Papermill in Follies also. After 'I'm Still Here' you couldn't get the audience back in their seats. Stopped the show. What a show - greatest cast ever.

Wow this is amazing - and the more times you watch it the more little details you pick up - like how she even went to the bother of wearing a brooch on her dance suite - and watch her get that guys attention at 4:18 - she knew how to work the crown even in a room with only 5 people in it - Love love love Annne Miller - its people like her that made America great - because they were great

Why is she tapping in the sound booth? I know that she had to redub her taps in a sound booth for the movies. But this rehearsal was for a live performance. Also didn't she dance to a live orchestra during the performance? Why is the orchestra pre recording the music? Can you enlighten me?

I just love Ann Miller! That’s not an inner tube around her midriff, it’s a brace from being thrown down the stairs by a husband when she was nine months pregnant. She lost that child. It was the only one she ever had.
@nathanjamesdance
@nathanjamesdance 3 жыл бұрын
I think the story here is a little confused. The brace was worn in 1948 when the domestic incident happened and Ann miscarried. This was almost 40 years later and the belt she wears, whilst possibly for physical reasons, is not related (directly at least) to the accident you mention.

I remember reading somewhere that she was and remains the fastest tap dancer in history, tapping at, approximately, 1000 taps a minute at full strength. Watching her, as I will this weekend, in "Easter Parade" dancing to "Shaking the Blues Away", alone, tapping her way into history books then with Fred Astaire, more ballroom, in "It Only Happens When I Dance With You" are 2 great numbers My favorite, though....is a song that wasn't originally in the Broadway show though written by the same composer/lyricist, Cole Porter, in "Kiss Me Kate", dancing "From This Moment On" with so many great dancers from Bib Fosse, who they let choreograph his bit with Carol Haney to Tommy Rall (Seven Brides For Seven Brothers...and I believe he was 'Frankincense') .....3 couples dancing amazingly to an amazing song. Imagine that her own father, an esteemed lawyer, forged her birth certificate so she could work at 13 but say she was 18. She was so tall. She was all class, though occasionally played a not so nice hoofer. Left the world too soon but will always be remembered, for her being a performer and archivist in being able to talk about Hollywood when Hollywood was what we believe it to be. Especially MGM! Brava, Ms. Miller.
