Have watched a number of videos on diminished chords without getting much out of them. This is the first lesson I've seen that really shows how you can use them and how you can alter them indeed to work better with melody lines. Very cool.

Great stuff, Jeff. So much of this is within reach for anyone willing to listen. Your explanations simplify the process greatly. The tricky part is your trial-and-error alteration of the diminished, but even without too much of that, it still works.

Oh man sooo many good nuggets of knowledge in this video! I was familiar already with using dim chords like in the 1st example but later on in the video that just opened my brain up to so many new tools I can now more easily recognize and use! I mostly do a lot of jazz band writing and some guitar writing and this helps sooo much

Hey Jeff. Thanks for your new lesson. That's amazing. You must add diminished and another type of chord voicings to your Sick Chords course. I think it's a great idea. God bless you.

very cool. i always do this on intuition / memory (and sometimes fail with a horrible chord if i'm outside a key in my comfortzone) but i'm pretty surprised there's a method to it!

Whatever is the leading tone to A minor well it's G# the third of E dominant 7 and moving to dm7 its C# the third of A dominant 7th. Yes thinking if voice leading and basslines helps too. It's the art of playing melody and harmony and keeping in mind the root movements in the bass. 🎉😂❤

Nice. Sounds like Barry 6th diminushed scale but in a new approach. Thx
@charlottegodbolt5138Ай бұрын
Or dare one suggest a more complicated approach? As in Dim passing chord a 1/2tone below the target.. initially easier to understand maybe.. But then thinking of it and its extensions…. Possibly if one takes a little time first to get to grips with the BH 6 / dim scale (eg where say a min7 chord can be instead thought of as a 6 chord) then in practice that’s actually easier to make flow with less mental load in the moment… Maybe.. I do like this video though as it corroborates both and it’s always hand to be able to approach / reinforce things from different angles :-)
