I have great memories of Heathkits. I started in the 1970s and built a tabletop am/fm radio, and a gas discharge digital clock. Both still work although the gas discharge pieces have a few places where segments dont light, and there is some flickering. I remember the saying "We wont let you fail." Once i got a defective part. I contacted the company, and got a hand typed note from a technician and a replacement part. Great personalized service and great company.

Hi Jeff. I also live in Ottawa. I remember building a Heathkit vacuum fluorescent display digital clock for my grade 12 electronics project back in 1985, and it's still working fine. Furthermore, I had to write a report about how I assembled it and my troubleshooting procedures I used to find out why I could not set the time, which was simply a wire I had forgotten to solder.

Thanks, great video. I have three XR-2 Healthkit radios. My first radio didn't have any knobs. So, I purchased a second one to get some knobs. Then, I made more knobs for the other radio. Afterwards, I saw the third radio at a swap meet for $10.00. I couldn't resist, so now I have three XR-2 radios.

Nice restoration of a rather rare now Heathkit AM radio. Handle usually is found broken in the middle. Great 6 C cell battery holder with cardboard protector added . Highly recommend doing that.

Enjoyed the video! I built a later version AM only radio. I can't remember the model.
