My dad passed when I was 2, I have no memory of him. Mom held us together, rest her soul, and my stepfather was a decent guy, but he loved my mother, and tolerated us. I forget who said it, but somewhere along the line I heard or read someone say that for those of us without fathers, or with fathers that were emotionally absent, you have to learn to be your own father at some point. It looks like you've taken that to the next level, your kids are very fortunate. Anyway, long live the memory of our fathers, and long live the legacy of George Harrison.

When I see George among his old bandmates, with his son and in his beloved garden, I am so happy that he was able to create a bubble of love around him with his wife and son and his bandmates, new and old, who seem to have really & genuinely loved and cared about him, like Jeff Lynne, Eric Clapton, Eric Idle and Michael Pailin, Ringo, and so many others that we don't even know about. He deserved every bit of love that came his way; I'm sure he sent even more out. I think he was truly happy in his life.

He was definitely happy with the Traveling Wilburys. ❤️ That was probably the best part of his musical career. The original idea to form the Traveling Wilburys, came from George Harrison and Jeff Lynne during the recording sessions of George Harrison's 1987 album, 'Cloud Nine'.

Yea I remember an interviewer asked him does he realize how loved he was and he said yes, he did. Had tears in his eyes. This was probably in the 80s or 90s. He knew it was a double edged sword but I think appreciated all the love from us and his friends/family.

I grew up with George and his other three cohorts while they were together as a group so for me (and tens of millions of others who lived through that time) he was like my long lost older brother who made good. They each had their own personalities and much more than the others, George was, as Eric Clapton put it, "quite contrary". Because of that, I get a good feeling seeing him and Paul give each other a hug and actually seeing George smile.

A song beautiful beyond words and a classic from one of the greatest albums of the decades that bequeathed the otherworldly likes of the Beatles to Prince;Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, and Janis Joplin; two Bobbies (Marley and Dylan) Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, and George Clinton. To have created one of the greatest albums in such company? Genius. And that moment in which Dhani and George hug in the studio: heartbreakingly tender and wise--"Run of the Mill" in tenderly ironic beauty.

What ATMP could have been with better production! These songs are just gems. And hearing the nuances of George's guitar like this - magic! George wasn't nearly so good a singer as John or Paul technically, but when it came to simply being moving he surpassed them both. I struggle to think of anyone who was George's equal in this respect.
@garychambers58503 жыл бұрын
I think the albums production is great just the way it is.. Spectors "Wall of Sound" Each Beatle had their own distinctive vocals. Listening to their songs you can Hear Taxman and know, That's George! Or hear Penny Lane and you know, thats Paul!, or hearing You Can't Do that, thats Johnny! And hearing Yellow Submarine. Thats Ringo! Paul has the best vocal because he has a big range. he has different styles of singing. From "Long Tall Sally, then Blackbird, then Helter Skelter to Yesterday! But John and George both have really good vocals! maybe John a tad better because of his range.. Ringo is....Ringo.. He wasn't really meant to be a singer, just a great drummer. But each Beatle had their own fans, Girls lobed RINGO! so they gave songs for Ringo to sing, to be a part of the Action! And I think he did a great job! His album "RINGO" from 1973 was awesome! and it had all 4 Beatles on it. But not a once. "I'm The Greatest had 3 Beatles. _John, George and Ringo_... 🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️

@@teodorocromberg I used to think that Spector was just out of step with advancements in sound engineering that came about during the late '60s (and early '70s), but as far as I can make out it seems that the lack of clarity and cluttering on ATMP is a side effect of Spector's "Wall of Sound" method. Just thinking of the history between the guys and the band in general, how could you hear this song and not just find it beautifully haunting. Like being Paul, John, or Ringo and hearing this. John and Paul didn't have the most outsung praise for this album, which could be for a few reasons but could be chalked up to tense relations and competition. Which I think is really unfortunate because George finally getting a spotlight is something he would have loved their praises on. But in regards to this song, if I was them I'd be in tears
