Chicken Scratch Apologetics. One oddity of Jehovah's Witnesses, is their near refusal to debate. Not saying they won't be chatting, but when tough questions arise, they will end the conversation. Is that biblical? Nope.

In John 5:28,29 (makes a distinction in the resurrection process) and also Revelation 20:4-6 ( This allows the righteous to see God’s character and how he is JUST in dealing with the wicked) HOW MANY FACE does GOD have if he is three persons? One...which is why there is Jesus and the Holy Spirit, so you can *“see”* the Almighty God through them. Exodus 3:20 states “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.” So from this scripture it is one face. Hmmm, but here are scriptures in the old testament where people have had interactions with God and seemed to live. Read Genesis 32:30 and Daniel 3:25. *So in the old testament we see the God did appear to people. Here is the new Testament:* John 1:18 says “No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.” Similarly, 1 Timothy 6:16 teaches that God is the one “who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see.” Also read John 1:14 and Phillipians 2:6,7. Do you use I am, me and myself for ONE LITERAL PERSON or three persons? It depends on the context (Noun vs. Adjective).... For example: The first MAN (ADAM in Hebrew) describes one literal person, but it can also describe his nature (as in human/mankind). You could say that we are all ADAM or mankind - see Genesis 5:1,2. One of Adam's sons is named Seth. So for example, in Hebrew you could say that Adam was the father of Seth but also that Seth was Adam. In the latter sentence the word Adam is being used in a different sense. In the first part Adam is a person but in the second part he is also described as a person - Seth in nature. Why do you REJECT AND DENY the Father as Salvation? This is a LOADED QUESTION please look up what that is if you don't already know. 1. Romans 1:16 The Apostle Paul taught that *God* is salvation. 2. John 1:12-13 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” --- “Receive him” implies not merely intellectual agreement with some facts about *Jesus* but also welcoming and submitting to him in a personal relationship. “Believed in” (Greek. pisteuō eis) implies personal trust. Then read John 14:6. 3. Ephesians 1:13, 14 “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession-to the praise of his glory.” “Sealed” can mean either that the *Holy Spirit* protects and preserves Christians until they reach their inheritance or that he “certifies” the authenticity of their acceptance by God as being genuine.

I worked with a bunch of them years ago and I can say that they are generally very good people. When it comes to gospel conversations though, they are frustratingly close minded. The double standards they have where I have to listen to them, but they don’t have to listen to me, is very annoying.

Jehovah’s Witness is just a schism of the original Bible Student Movement where many splintered off due to objecting JF Rutherford’s wild theologies. He created the new name of the organization Jehovah’s Witness in 1931 to distance themselves from those splinter groups of Bible Students. Regardless, Jehovah’s Witness are still under the founding corporation umbrella of The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society which Charles Taze Russell created in 1881. That’s just semantics saying he wasn’t a JW.

As an ex JW I can tell you that as a JW I always welcomed the opportunity to have an exchange, one going an epic 12 hours. The reason behind this whole non-debate stance, which is a more current construct, is quite simple; 95% of JW’s have never really been students of the Bible, only of Watchtower literature. Getting into a debate with a literate Christian who knows their Bible would be the equivalent of clubbing a baby seal. This is one reason why people tending carts flee when actually challenged to support their doctrines. The only problem this poses is when you come out of this cult with actual knowledge of why you believed as you did, it becomes very difficult to find someone who is willing to go through the lengthy discussions that would be necessary to unlearn what you have learned. That is where I find myself now, wanting to learn but most Christians not having the depth of understanding I need to work through what I was taught.

I have had many discussions with people who have claimed to have various religious degrees and or positions. They are actually at a huge disadvantage because their faith is based on blind faith in false doctrines while JW base theirs on a logical reasoning on scripture. Since a debate is logic based, JW have it easy since all they have to do is expose the blind faith foundation of Christendom.

⁠@@williamanderson695the problem most of us have with the witnesses is not that they don’t base some of their arguments on logic or from the scriptures.. The problem I personally have with the witnesses is their believe that “only” them have devine backing and only them have exclusive access to God. Now they MAY never tell you this openly but they imply it every week at their meetings and write it in most of their articles. If you are a thinking person, it doesn’t take you long to realize that this line of reasoning is seriously faulty and all is not quite right with this group. If you tell me that you are trying as a people to have gods favour and follow scripture to the latter, that I can understand, if you tell me that your organization is not perfect but the men in charge have good intentions, that I can also understand. But if you begin to teach that only you have “Gods favour” and backing, then something is seriously wrong somewhere whether or not you like it. “At this Peter began to speak, and he said: “Now I truly understand that God is not partial, 35 but in every nation the man who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him- Acts 10-34 &35

I wish the Governing Body would have public debates with Christian apologists. That would really show how qualified they are to be God's "Only channel of communication". Imagine something like Stephen Lett vs Light over Dark Ministry on blood transfusions or if Jesus died on a cross or a stake or the validity of the 1914 doctrine etc. That would be so cool. Obviously Light over Dark Ministry would own 'em but that would be awesome to see!

JW used to appear on tv talk shows back in the 1960s and 1970s. One show i remember was the Lou Gordon Show when a circuit overseer was interviewed several times. This would not be allowed anymore.

The issue is that while the org adherents believe that the org's views are synonymous with the truth, they remain just views. All views need to stand up to scrutiny. And be examined against scripture. People do not want to debate the orgs views- they want to see whether the org's or any other views stand up to scrutiny. To do that requires an examination of the org's and opposing/ alternative views. Thats not a debate per se. (That is also called searching the scripture..) Ask yourself what level of arrogance has to exist for any organisation/ body/ person to claim their view is absolute truth. Perhaps it really highlights an underlying fear. The truth in person sets people free- no organisation sets anyone free.

People who want their own beliefs to take precedence over Bible TRUTH should start their own church which hundreds have done. Jesus has only ONE group of United Disciples whom he leads in the fulfillment of Matthew 24:14. JWs are PREACHERS of the Good News. Matthew 10:7 As you go, PREACH, saying: ‘The Kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.’ 14 Wherever anyone does not receive you or listen to your words, on going OUT OF THAT HOUSE or that city, shake the dust off your feet. Why does the existence of JWs be a worrying factor to others? Just like the Jews couldn't just ignore Jesus, John 15:18 If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.

@@Controle9165 when you say, "Do you believe in faith alone?", What do you mean? Salvation is certainly by faith alone, but the Christian life is God honoring with good works of course. Many passages describing this (like in Ephesians 2, James 1 and 2, etc) Ultimately, faith in Christ saves us, yet we know it's a true and sincere faith by the works. It's not the works that save, but works are evidence of being saved. Even in the verses you mention, Jesus says things like "if you love me, you'll obey my commands" so it's saying that the one who has faith will obey His commands. The one who has faith is saved, and that salvation is evidenced by good works that we walk in as children of God.

@@Controle9165 I'm not really sure what your point is, I think we may actually believe the same thing but I could be wrong haha. I'm saying that when it comes to salvation (justification more specifically), I believe it's really clear in scripture that we are saved by grace through faith apart entirely from works. But like you're saying, if someone just says they believe but they continue living a life of the flesh in sin, and they aren't repenting, then maybe they aren't saved at all like James says (even demons "believe" in the sense that they know God exists, but they don't "believe" or have salvific faith to be saved) Ultimately, God knows our hearts, I pray that many will come to Jesus (fully God and fully man) and be saved knowing that it's only by His Grace (substitutionary death on the cross for our sins and resurrection from the grave). And we know that those who are saved will have a change in direction (repentance) which is the work of God in us worked out in works to give glory to God.

This is exactly how former JW Cark Olof Jonssen left the JWs. A non-JW challenged him to prove WT's 607 BCE date, and the evidence he examined led to his departure from JWs.

I love when jws refer to 2 Timothy. I point them to the second chapter, verses 16-18 where "Paul" condemns those who teach that the resurrection has occurred when it hasn't. This is exactly what the Watchtower group was doing, in 1919 when they were supposedly chosen by Jesus. At that time in history they were telling the world that the resurrection had begun in 1878. So Jesus chose a bunch of "apostates" (their word). I have never ever had a jw be able to explain this.

You think 2 Timothy is talking about the resurrection of the non Christian dead but all Christians at the time of the writing thought they'd never be human again after they died. And had to wait 1900 years to get brought to heaven for some reason. If those apostates were gaining a following teaching that Moses was physically resurrected to earth how was anyone convinced, since nobody had seen Moses walking around. They saw Jesus walking around and you say his resurrected body wasn't physical. The Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit are all seperate, with seperate things they do, but they are 1 God. No one can have 1 of them without the other 2 of them (2Cor 13:14; Matt 28:19). I have not rejected the Father's plan of salvation. He drew me (John 6:44-51) to His Son Jesus for salvation (John 3:16-19) and I accepted the Father's free gift of salvation, and I received the Holy Spirit who dwells in me (Rom 8:9-11). When you're saved by the Lord Jesus, you're called saved, born again, the Father's child, and a Christian. Hello, DH! Love your content. It's come in handy for a Sunday school class my husband and I are teaching to 10th-12th graders about JWs. I had been a Witness for 34 years until 2020 but my husband (married for 27 years!) never was, praise the Lord! We are a united front now. Wanted to point out that the new Elders book is called Shepherd the Flock of God and you can find it online in pdf form. Under apostasy it's not quite as specific (it gets updated every several months) as it was in the old books that you were showing. I think they must know that their materials are getting out and they're putting less detail in the actual books.

There is a difference between a person who misunderstands scriptures or a prophecy in the Bible. Witnesses never said they were infallible or that it had to happen when the 6000 years of man’s existence came. It made sense to many but was not dogmatic. I hear this talk all the time. What about early Christian disciples of Jesus who had wrong expectations? Many Four Square pastors who have misunderstood bible prophecy as well. Chuck Smith from Calvary Chapel in 1978 predicted the rapture by 1981. How come you don’t mention your fellow believers like him? In 1950, one of the most respected Christian evangelists, Billy Graham told a group in Los Angeles: “Two years and it’s all going to be over.” I can go on and on… So if you want to start slinging mud start first with your camp of those in Christendom.

The instrument that Jesus died on was just that, a torture instrument, and all the evidence points to the fact that Jesus did not doe on a cross but rather a "upright pole of stake" ! An important reason is that Jesus Christ did not die on a cross. The Greek word generally translated “cross” is stau·ros′. It basically means “an upright pale or stake.” The Companion Bible points out: “[Stau·ros′] never means two pieces of timber placed across one another at any angle . . . There is nothing in the Greek of the [New Testament] even to imply two pieces of timber.” In several texts, Bible writers use another word for the instrument of Jesus’ death. ( EZ,45:19; 43:20; Lev. 4:26) That was the reason for the Crown of thorns, that put blood at the top. Pilate had the sign put ABOVE His HEAD, if it was just an upright pole, it would have been above His hands. (Heb.10:12) The Jews would have been familiar with a sheep/ lamb sacrifices putting blood on FOUR sides of an altar. ( Ez. 43:20; 45:19) In the same book, Ex. 12:1-36 is the instructions for the Passover. One must use a sheep/lamb (ver.3) then the must SPLASH blood upon the TWO doorpost and the upper part of the doorway ( ver.7) so at this point, there's blood on THREE sides. Now if you know anything about blood, especially if one is SPLASHING it, there will be some at the bottom, putting blood on FOUR sides of the door.

This, despite the fact that "new light" changes often completely contradict the prior doctrine, they don't just 'clarify' doctrine, as JWs claim. I then asked the JW a question: Mormons also use the "new light" doctrine to explain their changes in understanding. "What do you have to say about that?", I asked. This comment was going to be much longer, but I could probably leave it at 'What Mo2874 said'. But even your premise is wrong. The Title of the video is "Why won't Jehovah's Witnesses Debate?" Yet at the 9:12 and 9:24 minute mark you admit that some actually do. This is just more of the same, pointing a finger at Witnesses over something your lot do (Or I suppose, DON"T do in this case) in spades. What do you think happens when JW's go out in the ministry? That every single door we knock on that happens to have a 'Christian' living there, wants to get into a deep theological debate? Surprisingly, no. More often it's (Words you used in the video) a door slammed in our face. A more appropriate title for this video would have been something like 'Why won't people of various denominations debate each other'. Now, I'm not going too much into why we don't invest endless hours debating with people who really just want to argue. Mo2874 explained that far more eloquently than I could. But I will make a couple of points. You also believe that Jesus is the head of the Christian Congregation, right? Why would Jesus want us to waste time with people who don't want the truth? Currently, my local congregation gets through it's territory twice in a year. Why would Jesus want it to be once every five years because of fruitless discussions when time is of the essence ("Yes, the harvest is great, but the workers are few." - Luke 10:2) A HUGE difference between Christendom and JW's is how we respond to Jesus on that score. Now, while I think you draw the wrong conclusions in almost every instance, there is no doubt that you have spent a serious amount of time reading the scriptures. Not 1 in 100 members of Christendom would be as well-read on the Bible as you are. But me, I'm not exceptional. I'm generic. Any JW could teach or explain our point-of-view as well as, or better than I can, as you would have found out through this channel (Tonga Khan, JW Defensor, David Agnew, Mr.DC, Mo if they choose to stick around, and others) and those you've encountered in the flesh where you live. How has Christendom responded to Jesus when he said "Therefore, beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest." Have they had the attitude "Here I am Lord, send me"? (Isaiah 6:8) No. More like 'What, me? Go out to preach? Haha. Naaah. I go to church on Sundays - if I feel like it. I try to be a good person. I do my part. Preach? We PAY people to do that. We've got OTHERS that do that sort of stuff.' But you know how many Witnesses engage in the ministry, don't you? ALL OF US!

Yes some witnesses do debate, as I said, and that number is extremely small. I think I was able to point out that you are encouraged not to debate, and only speak to those with a sincere heart. My breakdown has always been directed at the organization’s leaders and the unbiblical rules they subject upon their members. As I even mentioned, I love having people like yourself in the comment section. I didn’t insult you I said most responses are Articulate. But notice how you listed 5 or 6 people. In my years I’ve only seen maybe two dozen witnesses willing to argue for their faith, which is staggering out of 8,500,000. I can only surmise these are outliers and not representative of the religion as a whole. Perhaps I could have been clearly, but it is my belief that witnesses have caveats on 1 Peter 3:15. When the scripture says anyone, witnesses teach only those with a sincere heart. When they see apologia, it’s only repeating WT teaching. Any defense given is very safe. Let me give you an example. If I got in an debate with Dan Barker ( former Christian now atheist ) I could share exchange with everyone I knew, and I would be commended for defending the faith. If you got into a debate with Lloyd Evans, I’m gonna guess, you wouldn’t share that with the elders for fear of retribution, just because you defended your faith. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses I am surprised at how little you know of us. Jehovah’s Witnesses preaching worldwide, engage with people of all religions and backgrounds. Just a few weeks ago I met an atheist who invited us in and we had about a half hour long discussion. We discuss and debate with people one on one, all the time. It is what we do. We do tend to limit our time with those who have no interest in learning the truth. Our primary mission is to preach the good news. If we believe that the person is not open to learning the truth, we take our leave and look for someone who is. How we tell, is by how they respond to scripture. Do they accept the scriptures that clearly disprove false doctrines? If they continue to reject the Word of God, there is nothing we can do for them if they are not willing to accept the truth. Those who are looking for the truth, are willing to accept what the Bible states. You have a misunderstanding of whom apostates are. They are people who were once baptized Jehovah’s Witnesses who now oppose us, or teach a conflicting belief in the congregation. Here are two quotes that show apostates are former Jehovah’s Witnesses. *** w09 4/15 p. 6 par. 15 Job Held High the Name of Jehovah *** “Modern-day apostates display characteristics similar to those of the Devil. The instrument that Jesus died on was just that, a torture instrument, and all the evidence points to the fact that Jesus did not doe on a cross but rather a "upright pole of stake" ! An important reason is that Jesus Christ did not die on a cross. The Greek word generally translated “cross” is stau·ros′. It basically means “an upright pale or stake.” The Companion Bible points out: “[Stau·ros′] never means two pieces of timber placed across one another at any angle . . . There is nothing in the Greek of the [New Testament] even to imply two pieces of timber.” In several texts, Bible writers use another word for the instrument of Jesus’ death. It is the Greek word xy′lon. (Acts 5:30; 10:39; 13:29; Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 2:24) This word simply means “timber” or “a stick, club, or tree.” The most convincing proof of all, however, comes from God’s Word. The apostle Paul says: “Christ by purchase released us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse instead of us, because it is written: ‘Accursed is every man hanged upon a stake [“a tree,” King James Version].’” (Galatians 3:13) Here Paul quotes Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, which clearly refers to a stake, not a cross. Since such a means of execution made the person “a curse,” it would not be proper for Christians to decorate their homes with images of Christ impaled. So if there was a chance that this is true it means that people are putting Jesus onto a pagan symbol!

NOT comparable to us in knowledge and experience. He talked of his father and got angry with people making a mockery in his father's house. Zondervan and Crossway etc...are having a blast partnering with these KZbinrs to sell their products and making people feel they need to have the newest Bible (I fell prey myself). Even a Christian cannot brush aside the worship of Jehovah as God. In Revelation 1:5 the Son of God called himself "Jesus Christ, 'The Faithful Witness.'" When on earth as a man he was a Jew, an Israelite, to whose nation the words of Isaiah 43:10 were written: "'You are my witnesses, ' is the utterance of Jehovah, even my servant whom I have chosen.'" Jesus demonstrated that he was a faithful and true witness of Jehovah God. His genuine disciple today must be the same kind of witnesses, Jehovah's.

Isaiah 44:6; Revelation 1:8, 11; 21:6; 22:13 I AM the first and the last, the Beginning and the end, Alpha and Omega These five verses taken together show that God the Father and God the Son share in the divine nature. Let us examine each verse together. Isaiah 44:6 God is speaking and there is a reference to the king of Israel. Though Israel was a theocracy, there is enough evidence to suggest that this could be a reference to Jesus. One interpretation could be that God is referencing himself as both the king and redeemer of Israel. But King of Israel, redeemer and Lord of hosts are also titles ascribed to Jesus. Jesus is also called Lord and God in the new testament (Don't take my word for it. Look it up. 2 Peter, Titus, Romans, John). Revelation 1:8 could be the Father speaking, or John simply referencing God. Revelation 1:11 is clearly Jesus speaking, as it is Jesus whom John sees. Revelation 21:6 could be either the Father or Jesus Speaking. There is a strong connection between this verse and Isaiah chapter 44 as both reference God giving water to his people. Revelation 22:13 is without a doubt Jesus speaking, as he calls himself by name a few verses later. In all of these verses, God the Father and Jesus are both saying I AM the first and the last. That is to say, both are God and share the same divine nature.

The “moon landing” served 3 purposes. 1 - to “prove” the spinning ball earth by showing a “photo” of earth on the way to the moon. 2 - to serve as a major distraction to all the massive focus there was at that time as to what they found at and past the Antarctic circle. In fact, Russia was actually focused on exploring Antarctic at that time. 3 - to remove the Biblical “firmament” Genesis 1, Psalms 19:1 etc and attempt to prove there is no such thing as a literal dome separating the waters below from the waters above. Case in point is your anti-historical view of the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem. You read into Dan 4 a prophecy about Jesus when the text explicitly states that it is about Nebuchadnezzar. Or how about the JW claim that σταυρος cannot mean cross when all the evidence points to Jesus dying on a cross shaped σταυρος. Do I need to mention all the false predictions your group has made over the years? Or the fact the your group keeps changing who the FDS is? If Jesus chose a FDS, they would know. JWs before becoming JWs actually usually have no knowledge of what their prior church taught or understood the doctrine of Christianity. Also most didn’t know much about the Bible or ever read it that’s why it’s easier to convert weak faith or ignorant people. JWs love talking to people that have no proper training in doctrine, history or biblical scripture. So no they usually don’t know about other church teachings, just what the organization has taught them about other churches through propaganda and false assumptions

@@michellebernal5668 : For someone to become a JW, he first has to learn what the Bible teaches, and then make the needed changes in order to qualify. Obviously these would know what their former religions taught. That is why the TRUTH made them leave these babel of religions and align themselves with God's last days' Worshipers. Compare Revelation 18:4. Micah 4:1-5. The way one puts it, it seems that all JWs were 'duped'? Their 'ignorance' was taken advantage of. By whom? Jesus? That is not borne out by the evidence. JWs are the fulfillment of Psalms 110:3. No one in their right minds would take on a JW in what the Bible teaches. Fortunately for these video charlatans and others, JWs do not get involved in any Public debates. 1 Timothy 6:4 he is puffed up with pride and does not understand anything. He is obsessed with arguments and debates about words. If, as one claims, people in the churches know their Christianity, how is it that they are divided in their beliefs. JWs of course, fulfill 1 Corinthians 1:10.
