That underwater footage-wow. Amazing how they have waterproof cameras. I'd be more like Fireese, I need to take my time adjusting to the cold water lol.

I love my GoPro camera, it takes great underwater footage. I'm like Fireese sometimes but I'm trying to be more 'just go for it and get it over with' than slowly trying to get in. It was pretty cold I have to admit.

I got chills when you guys jumped in that cold 🥶 water!!! The reason why we take in that huge gasp of air when we are suddenly submerged in cold water is actually pretty interesting. It’s a breathing reflex that is actually a part of an artifact of human evolution called the mammalian diving reflex exhibited in aquatic mammals (seals, otters, dolphins, wales) which optimizes respiration to allow staying underwater for extended periods of times. It is still engrained in our DNA 🧬millions of years later. 🤗 I know, I’m a geek 🤓 It’s a blessing and a curse 😊

Oh my gosh. Wow! I didn't know that! Thank you for sharing that!

I love interesting facts! Fireese is like you, she is a sponge when it comes to fun facts. Thanks for sharing. The water was cold and I totally gasped when I went it. It felt like I lost my breath for a minute. It wasn't too bad once we got used to it. :)

huyked Why you’re welcome 🤗 That google machine is wise! 😉 One of my favorite pass times is looking up interesting facts that are so astounding, they’re almost not believable. One my favorites is that all of ordinary matter (99.9999999% of it) is empty space. If you took out all of the space in our atoms, the entire human race (all 7 billion of us) would fit into the volume of a sugar cube! Hard to believe, right? But, sure enough, it checks out: www.iflscience.com/space/you-could-fit-the-entire-human-race-into-a-sugar-cube-and-13-other-facts-to-put-the-universe-into-perspective/

Laura Berg Life I never did make it to any of the water attractions when I visited Jeju Island. I did visit the infamous Maze Land though. That was a blast! I can tell Firesse is a sponge. If I had to guess, I would guess that she is an INTP or INFP personality within the Myers-Briggs personality types. They usually make for great scientists, musicians, and inventors. I am an ENTP-A which is about the same but more extroverted although I used to be VERY introverted 🤗, even around my own family. I forced myself to step out of my comfort zone and took public speaking classes after school and sang in lead in a band for a year which has helped me tremendously.

She is definitely musical and wanted to be a scientist when she grew up. Now she wants to be a therapist or psychiatrist. She is an introvert for sure. I hope she overcomes that as it can be debilitating at times. I was a huge introvert but learned how to be more outgoing. Teaching helped. I'm still an introvert but I can fake being an extrovert when I need to. :)

4:04 It looked like it was so cold it took your breath away. Yowzers! 5:19 I'm pleasantly surprised how good the colors are for the underwater footage. Those feet stickies are interesting. Never knew such a thing existed. Looking at how you both reacted to the cold water, I wonder if I would have wimped out. xD Ha! Remember, I'm from San Diego, California, so I'm acclimated to fair weather. :P

It totally took my breath away when I jumped in, it was colder than I expected on my torso. It's a GoPro camera. It does take great footage. The water was also very clear so that also helped. The water was pretty cold but okay once you were in. It's too bad the day was overcast. I think it would have felt nicer if the sun was out. It was certainly a fun experience.

How cold was the water? Can you do another video with your son

I'm not sure what the actual temperature was but it was pretty cold. It was okay once we were in.

You can buy wet suit boots that zip up. I used to use them for white water rapids when canoeing. Some of the rivers had sharp rocks and in fast moving water you need to protect your feet. I have seen water like this but super chilled in geo thermal area where super hot water is not far away also. No one could walk into the water as your legs would cramp up with terrible pain. We only lasted a few seconds before we all ran out and the children were crying. I have never experience water this cold in my life. This is in Rotorua New Zealand.

That's a great idea! I never even thought about wet suit boots but I can imagine they'd be good. I went to Rotorua when I was in my 20s. I stayed in a hostel that had a hottub with water from the underground geo thermal water. I visited the geo thermal area. I remember it smelling like sulfur. It was a fun place to visit.

Laura Berg Life The frozen water spring is on the other side of Rotorua lake. It forms a shallow wide river that looks enticing to swim in but no one dares step foot in it unless your new to the area.
