this is one of the only versions I've heard that doesn't sound like a competition between the two singers; their voices complement each other perfectly.

NO ONE does this song like these two. No one. It's perfect. Duality of their voices which somehow does not hinder their blending. Christine's tone is so beautiful and just makes you want to sigh, and then Linda comes in and her velvet voce just mades your heart swell....Amazing.

Think of how hard it would be to sing a duet with Eder...To try to be heard over her huge voice and then to sound nice while being compared to her would be so hard! Noll does a great job!

People NEED to leave Linda and Coleen apart! They are two entirely different women. Two totally different voices. Linda and Coleen are good in their own ways. Everyone has their opinion of who is better. Leave your rude comments to yourself!

Considering the whole play was written around Linda Eder's voice I don't think you can compare anyone to Linda at her because she's the reason why it became a Broadway show

Looking at this after having worked with a number of singers over the years, not only is this a really, really great performance: I am blown away by the fact that they sang this early in the morning wearing corsets. Those are long high powered notes!

1st of all, (the obvious), Christiane and Linda killin' it every single time. 2nd of all, I love that there are actual musicians performing w/ them on the show! I'm so sick of the pre-recordedness on these shows nowadays slash no orchestra on Broadway. BLAH.

But not really though. A 10-pc group of musicians with 2 keys using synth is not an ORCHESTRA, that's called a BAND. I'm talkin' a delicious (minimum) 23-pc orchestra with full strings 😍

This is the first time I have heard someone who is just as amazing as Linda. Both of them are fantastic. I have always been a Linda Edder fan sine the first CD that I picked up called The Scarlet Pimpernel. I fill completely in love with this woman's voice. From her rich and strong lower range to that incredible hight. (You have to listen to Man of La Mancha to appreciate her range. Its hard for me not to compare other female voices in this genre that have sung with her. Here both are amazing!

This is really interesting to watch in terms of star quality: Christiane Noll has a beautiful, very well trained voice and really does everything right but when you compare her to Linda who's less perfect yet has so much coming out of her eyes let alone her voice without even trying hard all you want to do is watch Linda.

Lucy is supposed to be older! The whole point of "A New Life" is that she isn't too old to try again and that this is her final chance to do so! It gives more for the audience to grip onto in Lucy's character. Linda Eder's voice is perfect for the role (because it was written for her), but her acting falters. But Colleen Sexton was in no way "correct" for the character of Lucy, both vocally and character-wise. And Linda was only 31 when she started as Lucy. Plus Jekyll is technically 50.
@rhiannonj2918
@rhiannonj2918 6 жыл бұрын
You are aware the average life span back then was a lot longer. If Lucy was 20, that's probably more than half her dang life
@forgotmyun

Also, the role was literally written for Linda! Both put a different perspective of Lucy as a character. And I love both
@IngenuousSoprano
@IngenuousSoprano 3 жыл бұрын
@@rhiannonj2918 average life span and typical life span are completely different. The average is brought down by all sorts of things (infant mortality is a huge one, work-related deaths, and other such things). If you look at your own ancestry, you'll probably find that a lot of your ancestors lived up to their 80s and that mid 20s were a typical age for western European women to marry and late 20s or early 30s was pretty typical for western European men.
