If all of society is a facade, a deception hiding our true natures, then does that make a person who is honest about themselves a fool or the most powerful person in the world?

I presume you’re posing a rhetorical question, but to answer it, I’d say they have power. If what’s above is different as what’s below, people call it a scandal. Someone who has their above the same as below has power if used correctly: honesty is prized in society, after all.

I've gotta wonder why the town is so upset with Hyde when they sing a whole song about how they're all secretly evil too. They sing about the line we'd all cross if we could, but get mad that someone chooses to cross the line 🙄 Sorry Hyde doesn't adhere to your facade, he's being his true self
@PrimataGamer2 жыл бұрын
I believe that adds to the irony! You can see there's a heavily sarcastic undertone throughout this entire song, and them being frightned and upset at Hyde just adds to the point that all of them keep their facade even though they're as bad as him. I don't necessarily believe that translates to real life, but it certainly keeps consistence with the themes of the story!

This is how I see the world. There’s different versions of yourself, and it all depends on who you’re with to see which version of yourself comes out. It’s really interesting, how no one else I know notices. For example, if you’re around a certain person for a long enough time, you’ll notice the way that they can switch ways they work, they’re valued at a given time. Everyone wears at least one mask. Whether it’s that you’re perfectly fine, that you’re perfectly perfect in every way, that you’re not mad, that you’re not scared, it’s all a facade.

Meh, "feed the right wolf" is much closer to the truth. People (not all, but many and hopefully most) don't merely pretend to be good, but sincerely desire to be, and, in that light, the good they do is not merely a facade even if the tendency to also do the evils they hate remains.

There's a face that we wear In the cold light of day - It's society's mask, It's society's way, And the truth is That it's all a façade! There's a face that we hide Till the nighttime appears, And what's hiding inside, Behind all of our fears, Is our true self, Locked inside the façade! Every day People, in their own sweet way, Like to add a coat of paint, And be what they ain't! That's how our little - Game is played, Livin' like a masquerade Actin' a bizarre charade - While playing the saint! But there's one thing I know, And I know it for sure: This disease that we've got Has got no ready cure! And I'm certain Life is terribly hard - When your life's a façade! Look around you! I have found You cannot tell, by lookin' at the surface, What is lurkin' there beneath it! See that face! Now, I'm prepared to bet you, What you see's not what you get - 'Cause man's a master of deceit ! So, what is the sinister secret? The lie he will tell you is true? - It's that each man you meet In the street Isn't one man but two! Nearly everyone you see - Like him an' her, An' you, an' me - Pretends to be A pillar of society - A model for propriety - Sobriety An' piety - Who shudders at the thought Of notoriety! The ladies an' gents 'ere before you - Which none of 'em ever admits - May 'ave saintly looks - But they're sinners an' crooks! Hypocrites! Hypocrites! There are preachers who kill! There are killers who preach! There are teachers who lie! There are liars who teach! Take yer pick, dear - "Cause it's all a façade! If we're not one, but two, Are we evil or good? Do we walk the fine line - That we'd cross if we could? Are we waiting - To break through the façade? One or two Might look kinda well-to-do - Hah! They're bad as me an' you, Right down they're boots! I'm inclined to think - Half mankind Thinks the other half is blind! Wouldn't be surprise to find - They're all in cahoots! At the end of the day, They don't mean what they say, They don't say what they mean, They don't ever come clean - And the answer - Is it's all a façade! Is it's all a façade! Man is not one, but two, He is evil and good, An' he walks the fine line We'd all cross if we could! It's a nightmare - We can never discard - So we stay on our guard - Though we love the façade - What's behind the façade? Look behind the façade!

This song, though it's not my favorite--perfectly embodies the show as a whole. In the show (AND ABSOLUTELY IN LIFE), we have different "masks" that we put on, so that different people perceive us in a different way. You may act a certain way towards your family, but to a stranger, your significant other's family, people of power, etc--you'll probably act VASTLY different. There's nothing *wrong* with this; that's human nature. But I do think it's satisfying to the audience, that after Dr. Jekyll is denied, the board only saw "A frustrated scientist, hoping to help humanity via controversial methods"--but once Hyde begins hunting them down, they now see: "So...THIS is the true pain behind our decision/this is the part of Jekyll he didn't want to show the world?" Of course; most of the people never knew that Jekyll and Hyde were the same, but the MESSAGE that's conveyed, towards the AUDIENCE-- WE get that mindset. It's brilliant, in a morbid, disorganized and chaotic sort of way.

This song is really good on a music and logical playing field for the musical genius that goes into the song lyrics discussion on the human façade in dead on,and how a human will ware a mask or in this case a façade to get what they want.

While the song in the concept album is good, I prefer this rewrite because it not only focus on the rich putting up facades but it acknowledges that everyone regardless of class or background put up facades. I like the section: There are preachers who kill, There are killers who preach, There are teachers who lie, There are liars that teach It demonstrates that not only can the most respected members of society commit evil acts but that even harden criminals have the ability to do good. It comes down to choice and whether we acknowledge our ability as humans to do harm as well to do good.

Hi there! Care to explain why you watermarked this video? Did you illustrate the video's background? Do you own the intellectual property of the lyrics? What part of this legally belongs to you to need a watermark attached? Genuinely curious.
@geko78443 жыл бұрын
Hello there. Thanks for your comment. I can confirm that I neither own the intellectual property of the lyrics or the video’s background. However, the combination of the background, music and the addition of scrolling lyrics mean that I have exercised the required skill, labour and judgement for this to be qualified as a derivative work and therefore attract the protection of the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1998 (UK). As a result, I have the protection of this act in relation to copying my work (see s.2 UK-CDPA-1998). The watermark is intended to deter persons from copying my work and therefore assist in asserting my copyright legal protections. The original author and copyright holders of both the image and lyrics/composition retain their rights and these are unaffected by the protection my derivative work is afforded. I hope this answers your question 😊
