Sebastion Bach remains my favorite vocalist and favorite Hyde to this day, I think his acting as Jekyll could be better but I respect how he gave it his all with zero acting background and is my favorite to ever play this role. I can only hope to one day be as good a vocalist as Sebastion Bach and I view his performance as Jekyll/hyde to be the greatest version, of this extremely difficult role.

@rando30864 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think Bach did a good job, especially considering he’s not a trained theater actor and this part is incredibly difficult. His Jekyll is great, he really captures the desperation and never ending desire. His Hyde is almost as good, I do really like him playing it as an uncontrollable animal. The only thing knocking his Hyde down a little is the voice. For songs like Alive (especially the reprise), Murder, Confrontation, and the finale where Hyde is being his most sinister, it works. For A Dangerous Game and the scene where he kills Lucy, doesn’t quite work because it is suppose to be more intimate.

The original Broadway production was professionally filmed and released in 2001 with the final cast starring David Hasselhoff as Jekyll/Hyde.
@marspowr Жыл бұрын
The vast, vast majority of broadway shows never get a single proshot, let alone two. And they had just released one starring David Hasselhoff a couple years before. Proshots are extremely expensive to produce and don't generate much revenue so a second one would've been a complete waste of money.

48:08 Sebastian‘s vocals are fine, but his body language out of the pace of the song was off. This is supposed to be the conveyance of a man who feels this is the defining moment of his life, a moment that will define him for all time. I moment that might, in fact, save his fathers life and redeem him. Plus in a such restrained society, he’s behind closed doors and can act as passionately as he wants. It’s a release and the song builds and builds towards that release. I’m not knocking Bach’s vocal ability because it’s amazing. Anybody that can carry that last note is definitely worthy of taking on this role and this song. It just feels like he was rushing it at certain points and his body language indicated he was try and get through it as quickly as possible. His gestures just lacked the passion that enhance the lyrics. Granted he was better than Hasselhoff LOL, but he has no Warlow or Evans. He is a brilliant singer but he could’ve tackled the song differently. That’s just my take. I’ve seen at least three different actors take on this role and this song in this play. I think that he has potential but came up short in his delivery.

My honest review of Mr. Bach: His Jekyll is actually quite good. He does a great job of capturing Jekyll's longing and desire to figure out the human mind. Although his British accent could use work. His Hyde... Well, it had potential. His stance, gestures, distinction from Jekyll... It was all great. However, he took the voice way too far. I know, he's a rock singer, it's what he's good at. However, Constantine Maroulis did a much better job of taking Hyde into a rock direction. Bach just makes it laughable for me.

I enjoyed this guys Jekyll and do believe he is a pretty great singer. But his Hyde really brought his performance down though. It was almost all this weird screaming and no actual singing and it was extremely goofy and doesn't give the serious, menacing threat that Hyde should be. Just my opinion though. Bravo otherwise.

@gcunningham713 жыл бұрын
I'm very puzzled by these comments. Bach is simply the worst actor to ever tackle this role. He looks and sounds completely out of his element in a staged theatrical piece. Yes he can sing, however his intonation and lyrical delivery are the most amateurish I've ever witnessed. Is he masking a southern affectation and losing the fight here? I truly wanted him to own this part but sadly he is the most unstable person onstage. This production looks incredibly miscast regarding the ensemble. There seems to be a mix of real Equity actors backed up by truly inexperienced community theater personnel in this show. Bring On The Men is unbearable to watch, cringe worthy at best. God Bless Kate Shindle for her highly professional turn here, she never disappoints. George Merritt is one of the theaters biggest treasures and also delivers every time. To be clear, I really wanted Sebastian Bach to blow us away, but his songs are rushed, poorly articulated and performed with no acting ability whatsoever. Of course, we're no watching Sondheim here, but I would expect Frank Wildhorn to give a paying audience more than just a tuneful score. Bach does nothing to serve the story or character development. Although Hasslehoff didn't sing this score at all well, he at least brought a finer acting skillset to the show.

This is weird and a little hard to follow , singing every thing
