"Jelačić Marš" - Croatian Marching Song

"Count/Ban Josip Jelačić von Bužim (16 October 1801 - 20 May 1859) was a Croatian lieutenant field marshal in the Imperial-Royal Army and politician.
He was the Ban of Croatia between 23 March 1848 and 19 April 1859.
He was a member of the House of Jelačić and a noted army general, remembered for his military campaigns during the Revolutions of 1848 and for his abolition of serfdom in Croatia.

Ban Josip Jelačić Bužimski was pro-Habsburg, why do you write in your description that he "supported Croatia's independence from Austria's throne."?

Yes, pro-Habsburg and pro-Croatia because himself belived that Croatia's can gain benefits from the Monarchy as a equal partner after the crushing of the revolutions in Hungary and Vienna... of course this didnt happen and Jelačić was pretty disapointed after what he witnessed... Habsburgs didnt play fair..

Jelačić lived and worked in a very narrow political space. Between two evils, he chose the lesser. And the Austrians?! As they played, so they ended! Their empire failed, and it's a good thing that it failed. None of the Croats shed a tear!
