It could be around that figure if the poster is referring to juniors, ITF & WTA titles in doubles, singles which includes runner up trophies? Jelena did win the #1 world junior title. Maybe the poster is referring to these? All taken together it might be more than 48 over the 15 years Dokic played? How many trophies did you win & were you ever #1 in anything?

And one more thing - European number one? The rankings don't discriminate according to country - your ranking is your ranking, simple as that.

She's doing Fed Cup commentary at the moment but the weird thing is she doesn't have the aussie accent anymore.

It's because she left Australia for a few years after only being there for about 6 or so (English wasn't her native language, if it was her native language she'd probably retain it better) so she lost it probably due to not having anyone to speak to in English. Also, there's literally nowhere you can hear an Australian accent in Europe since all English TV is US English. It's happened to a few people I know under similar circumstances.

Dokic never got any rewards or honorable mentions from the WTA or the media. The WTA never promoted her or featured her in its campaigns. Despite that she was probably its most popular player during that time & was a top player. She certainly deserved the award for sportsmanship. The tour screwed over her career. But well done Jelena against the odds.

jan tellit...I don’t think she was the most popular player at all, but she did have a lot of talent and potential

Dokic was the most underrated player ever. She can be proud of the 48 titles she achieved over the course of her entire playing career. Achieved no. 1 in the world and made the medal rounds at her 1st & only Olympics in 2000. She won player of the year in 2001 for Yugoslavia and became European #1 for a time. Amazing that she did it all against the odds & for my money better than Clijsters & Henin. Exciting player very skilled her bdtl shot & her inside out forehand best in the business.

The only thing of value Jelena Dokic has is her story. Hope she writes her bio these days you don't have to wait for a big publishing house to give you a book deal. Firms like Amazon, Xulon Press, iuniverse, Outskirts Press, Trafford Publishing etc.give you the power to edit, publish, distribute globally & market your book with their help. Dokic should start writing her "real" story. It might lead to a whole new career. She claims she's been through hell so her story might make a great movie.

Yup, and a few years later. She has a biography called, "Unbreakable"

@jan tellit - Jelena was underrated? I'd say quite the opposite and her results over the year reflected that. She was the quintessential example of a one dimensional player - hit hard and hit harder. She had great groundstrokes when she was on form but she had absolutely no B game to fall back on and that was exposed as her career progressed.
