This is the typical amazing match ostapenko wins, powerful, confident and aggressive, that her fans like so much.

sadly anything but typical for Ostapenko after winning Roland Garros
@wung-honghuang54775 жыл бұрын
Note that besides 2017 champion she also played very well at Miami and Wimbledon in 2018, final and SF respective. I thinks that the 2017 champion (ranking 12), those continue to ending to play year final (ranking 7), and Miami (ranking 5), and Wimbledon in 2018 are already the wonderful achievements for any WTA player, even if she never has any title hereafter. Of course, she has something importance to overcome besides the skill and serve (which may be not the most important) to become a really great player. And then her fans and herself can enjoy more matches of Ostapenko' style. That is her fans hope.

I don’t know, she had a decent 2018 - it’s her form this year that has been terrible, apart from some glimpses of form in the Wimbledon warmup.

Ostapenko's 24 doubles faults came close to all-time record of 26 doubles faults in a match - Marc Rosset - and she still won

Jelena is THE most perplexing player in tennis. She's such a talented ball striker , plays with no fear. But her uncompromising game plan often leads to her down fall

good tennis by Ostapenko. what I want from her is just 2 things - good serve and consistency
@footfault19415 жыл бұрын
In retrospect, It's Siniakova who said thank you very much. A fine game by Ostapenko in highlight. 2 hrs & a half, bombardment. Pliskova sent home to postpone an attempt to regain a number 1 spot in the ranking. Then, Ostapenko lost in 2 in just over 1hour. Higher % of success in Ostapenko's shot made spectacular scenes here & there. Tough to predict her next movement, Pliskova struggled in materializing plenty of opportunities to control the match. World number 2 found no answer against a player with 25 double faults! This was a result, but having a quick look at Ostapenko's last 6, 7 matches, she had constantly produced 5 double faults/set! Pliskova should have done better. Pity.

she's always been capable of playing aggressive tennis, but she's not capable of controlling her power sometimes. Her serve has become a great liability too. She probably won't need 2hrs and half to win this match if she didn't DF 24 times.

She is sooooo Talented but i think she needs a little help...wonder where her coaches are sleeping...a good second serve will go a long way...she is getting broken too many times. She has got bit of consistency back since the last couple of years of erratic showing but she needs to do better on her own deal. She has the power to outhit both Naomi Osaka and Brianca Andresscu but her weak second serve and inconsistency will never get her a win against those two..If she even gets half the consistency of those two she will be world number 1 again
