Thank you for sharing this technique. It's really handy to mold and cast small parts on-the-fly. I substituted gelatin with agar-agar. Also you can add cornstarch to the mix to give it more strength.

Mille Grazie, excellent video. I have just purchased a bottle of glycerine and box of unflavored gelatin. Have you experimented with different proportions of the two ingredients ? And after many uses I'm sure that there is some sort of degradation, is the material restored by perhaps adding a bit more glycerine or must one discard the batch ?

Thanks SO much! Do you think this will work for casting concrete? It can be very alkaline. I've been told to use sorbitol in the gelatin and glycerin mixture. Do you know what the sorbitol would do?

Good video. Thanks to the author! This method really works, I checked it myself. But there are a lot of little bubbles inside mold. The bubbles do not affect the quality of the cast gypsum. But I thing that it is not good, or is it normaly? Is there a method for manufacturing a monolithic gelatin mold without bubbles? I'm sorry for any errors, English is not my native language.

Hola, eso s puede usar para hacer casting? yo pienso q se puede romper por el casting cuando s le pega a al molde . Puedo usar Smooth cast 320 o otras cosas ? You are smart !!!

I've tried this and it works amazingly well, but I am wanting to make a mold of an air dry clay piece I've sculpted, but I don't know if the clay will melt with the heat, or something like that. Also, I've put a couple coats of glossy mod-podge over it to seal the piece, which I'm not entirely sure, but would that seal the piece from heat.. or not? Thanks in advance :)

Nice tutorial. I think this is better than corn starch plastic. To avoid the bubbles pour the mix just on one corner and let it run through the mold without moving it. A funny observation. Don't use your own stick. Kidding. Thanks a lot.

Hi and thanks for the info! Do you know if this mold would be OK to make edible Jell-O snacks?Thanks!!
@PhilipStephens0078 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. As the mold is Gelatin and the jello snacks are also gelatin, I would say you would have problems with the snacks mixture melting the gelatin mold. also separation of the two would also be a problem. Better would be to make a silicon mold.

Having a bit of trouble. It is very sticky and is tearing a bit more than I like. Is there anything that it will NOT stick to that will not cause other problems. I'm considering a cooking oil but wanted to get your advice first.

Due to the fact that it gelatine, how durable is it? How many uses can it withstand?
@fakiirification11 жыл бұрын
could you not also use fiberglass resin to make your castings? or would that attack the mold material? i ask because you can get it in large quantities and many hardware and autoparts stores for a relatively small amount of money. much cheaper than finding an art supply and paying $25 for a quart of casting resin.
@bingrasm10 жыл бұрын
Cool!. Can i put melted wax in the molds or they melt too?
@PhilipStephens00710 жыл бұрын
The wax will melt the gelatine if the wax is hot. You may get away with a certain amount of casting if your wax is fairly cool. Even then you are likely to loose some detail.

What's the best way to substitute the microwave? Just heat in a pan being careful not to boil? Or maybe put inside a can inside a bowl of boiled water? Thanks

I made this jelo mold and it does work! It copies fine details and it's very strong. I couldn't tear it to re-melt, had to use knife. The only problem is that mine is not pourable, it's a thick paste. How to make it like yours - liquidish & self-leveling? I made it just like you did - 50:50 gelatin & glycerin. Any secret to make it thinner?

¿Cual es el ultimo material que utilizas? La formula no lleva agua verdad solo 50% de los dos ingredientes.
@BigFatTonys12 жыл бұрын
the gelatine mix was not heavy enough to push the food wrap into the mold and when I used a popsicle stick to push it into the mold, I made a mess of things. Without the food wrap the gelatine had too much sticking - tearing. I'm making a set (14) of two color 8 sided dice for a game that I have invented. The first step was to make the plug from a constructed mold. Step two, use the plug to make a two piece epoxy mold. Now I am using some Mille Fiori techniques to make the dice.

Te hago una consulta, me podrias pasra algun tip para hacer el fundido sin microondas ya que no tengo? gracias! esta genial el tutorial!
@tenshiabse9 жыл бұрын

+banji356 . Correct
@BigFatTonys12 жыл бұрын
no, I followed your suggestions, the gelatine is unflavored and without sugar. Mine performs the same as your batch in the video. There is a bit of sticking, stretching and tearing in your demonstration. For what I was trying to do, the tearing was too much. I switched to using clay with a layer of food wrap placed in the mold to prevent the clay from sticking. I found a food wrap that is so shear that the creases do not show in the clay.
