To be fair writing ain't that hard to shift thru genres if you just know kinda the looked rhytm and do listen differend genres aka know what are the topics. Say like if you are a tehchnical and good writer with rap (don't even need to be technical but it helps, need to just tone it down), then you can just write whatever. Like do a generic break up song in more so poem form and then mold it into a song form. You get a knack on it quite fast. Learn to sing and prefferably to learn guitar and that's that. Post Malone can do those two things in rudamentary fashion and that's enough. Most don't go across genres for not having the need to do that. Since if you make it in one and keep on honing that, it's achieved a lot already and they usually have passion for That genre. Still you can see that say Ed Sheeran can rap or Miley Cirus to do country or pop. It really is not that crazy. Other reason why many doesn't do it is because they are a brand with what they do. That's why when some teen star turns into adult they need this some song that shows that the image has been changed (with Miley it was just her trying to get from under Disney and it was succesfull)(To todays standard it is nothing.. but only maybe the photoshoot with her hand inside underwear.. you know). Then the music can change a bit but not genre really. Still like if Ariana Grande would suddenly do saaay a metal album with whole band, it wouldn't match the brand so the label wouldn't put it out. It's more so early on being able to make audience accustomed to you changing genres. Then you can change in between more fluently since it's expected. Kinda like Mgk, he can do a pop-punk or a rap tour and it's just a bit differend audiences where even there usually is cross-over.

I’m a huge Post Malone fan. His transition to country music reminds me of an interview that Post did with Charlemagne The God. In the interview Charlemagne accused Post of being an appropriator of HipHop and Rap. A hefty accusation, which would have normally stumped a newly successful artist. However Post replied, stating that he has appreciation for the genres and was merely feeding back to the sound through inspiration. Me, not being the biggest modern country fan. Am not quite looking forward to a full length country album by Post Malone. But I respect the fact that he’s following his heart. I wouldn’t consider him an appropriator by any standard. He appears to be a class act genuine guy that just so happens to be successful. He is the only artist that I have personally found worthy of idolization. And in my opinion following the contemporary legacy of John Lennon, Kurt Cobain and Marilyn Manson. All of whom encapsulated a period of human history through their music and became table talk while keeping true to what they do. As for country… There are a few songs that stop me in my tracks. Tammy Wynette’s song Stand By Your Man.” Willie Nelson “Always On My Mind.” Kenny Rogers “The Gambler.” George Straight “All My Ex’s Live In Texas.” To name a few. And of course the entire catalog of both Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash.

Post Malone came to Ozzy Osbourne to do a song and wound up bringing him out of retirement-- the guy just appreciates different kinds of music and the legends of it on a deep authentic level, and I can relate. genre is for marketing, to help listeners find what they like. but when you're a real artist, when you've got the music in your bones, there's too much to appreciate to stick to one corner! I grew up listening to country music almost exclusively, but I listen to everything that draws me now. and I''m also a history nerd, so knowing the roots of where those sounds came from is also cherished

Although I may not enjoy the result when a artist or group jumps i to another genre, I do appreciate their talent to do so. I had no idea who or what a Post Malone was until he did that song with Ozzy but now that I have heard some of his other stuff, I will not deny the dude has talent.

@@scottycollins1829No She doesn’t. She may be from Texas, but she’s definitely not a country artist.

@@h.b16 Listen to the album. The songs they put out for country radio shouldn't have been. Most of the album sounded like half of modern country radio so yeah, she is singing country music.

yes, Jelly. The first day I heard Post, I said, I want him to be himself, not others... Sing country if you like, you from Texas. Do it. Yes, Jelly, you all over it. YES
