Detroit resident here! Cool story: We got tickets for the Tailgates and Tallboys Festival in Iowa on this day to see JellyRoll and to see Shinedown on Saturday. We drove like 8 hours to get there for the festival. While we were waiting in the VIP Superfan area for Jelly to show up, we had friends and family back home at the Train Station Opening livestreaming us JellyRoll and Em playing. Then, JellyRoll hopped on a plane and hightailed it to Iowa for his gig there. He was a little bit late but once he came out it didn't even matter. He put on one helllll of a show. He is one of my absolute favorite performers. Eminem is too.

When I moved to TN like 14 years ago I jumped on KZbin to search for rappers in Tennessee. A kid named Ed Hardy popped up, and a dude named Jelly Roll. Both had freestyles posted. Both were fire. I seen a ton of potential specifically in Jelly and even offered to help him pay for studio time (don’t know if he ever seen the comment)…but Jelly kept dropping music and I kept thinking, “yo, someone is going to notice this dude and he’s going to make it big”…but it definitely didn’t happen overnight. Jelly worked his tail off doing local shows, putting out music videos, and new albums. Jelly wasn’t handed anything, he went out and got it himself and with the help of a few of his closest people. Props to you Jelly Roll, you manifested this, you made this happen ❤
